Carmen Electra, Leslie Nielsen and Simon Rex have boarded Scary Movie 4 for Dimension Films. Electra, who died in the original installment of the Scary Movie franchise, is back to play a new character in a plotline that parodies The Village. Spoof vet Nielsen and Rex will reprise their roles from Scary Movie 3. Anna Faris and Regina Hall already have boarded the project. The fourth chapter of the spoof franchise will take on horror and superhero movies. »

Quintet on spoof duty for Regency

Alyson Hannigan, Adam Campbell, Eddie Griffin, Fred Willard and Jennifer Coolidge are starring in an untitled romantic comedy for Regency Enterprises being directed by Jason Friedberg and Aaron Seltzer. Friedberg and Seltzer are spoof men whose credits include Scary Movie and Spy Hard; they also wrote the untitled movie, which is a spoof on romantic comedies. Hannigan plays the lead, while Campbell plays her romantic interest. Griffin is Hannigan's father, while Coolidge and Willard are Campbell's parents. »

Date with 'Chuck' a 1st for Helfrich

Longtime editor Mark Helfrich has signed on to direct his first feature, Good Luck Chuck, for New Line Cinema. The romantic comedy is about a man who breaks up with his longtime girlfriend only to see her get engaged to the next guy she dates. The same pattern occurs with his next girlfriend and continues to repeat. He finds himself becoming a lucky charm for women who all want to date him, and a comedy of errors ensues. Mike Karz, Russell Hollander and Tracey Edmonds are producing the Josh Stolberg script. New Line executive Mark Kaufman is overseeing the project. Helfrich is best known as Brett Ratner's editor, having worked on the helmer's Money Talks, Rush Hour, The Family Man, Rush Hour 2, Red Dragon and After the Sunset. Other credits include Scary Movie, The Last Boy Scout and Rambo: First Blood Part II. Helfrich is repped by CAA. »
