- Ill and unhappily married, Sam wants to see old flame again. His chums take him to see her in the middle of the night, but he thoughtlessly dies in her arms. His three chums find themselves transporting a dead body around town in the middle of the night—Alan J.W. bell
- Just out of hospital, the unhappily married Sam asks Compo, Clegg and Foggy to take him to see his old flame, Lily Bless Her, one last time. While with her, he dies, and his three pals panic to get him home in the middle of the night before his wife finds out. Transporting a dead body isn't easy, so they borrow Sid's mobile Fish and Chip van, which proves to be wholly unreliable. They get him home, but when Sam's wife puts his body in the garden shed, they decide to spirit him away again to lie in state at Lily Bless Her's house. The old van finally gives up and there is some doubt as to whether Sam will make it back in time for his funeral.—Alan J.W. Bell
