Tacky aur Trashy ki Jung
Chrysanthepop27 February 2008
Clearly it was the Aamir-Juhi pairing that attracted me to this piece of litter. It's among the most time-wasting films ever. Thank God for the fast-forward button as I finished watching this film in about 45 minutes but I'd recommend you to find something better to do with that 45 minutes. Even though Juhi looks cute, one is better off watching her other works. This movie that is equivalent to poop has nothing to offer and is the weakest in execution, acting (with the exception of Ms. Chawla who's decent), writing (don't even get me started on that) and well, everything. Even a seasoned actor like Aamir is wooden, but who wouldn't be if they were part of such garbage? The songs are sleep inducing (and perhaps people would have been better off sleeping). 'Dault ki Jung'does not even fall under 'so tacky it's good' category. It's just complete trash.

Several bad aspects spoil the good.

I have seen dozens of Bollywood movies and usually think very highly of them. However, recently it seems that Indian audiences and American audiences have different ideas on humor. On the good side, one reviewer wrote, that she liked Aamir and the pairing of Aamir and Juhi. Yes, that was good. It started off on the common theme of boy and girl love each other, but both sets of parents disapprove. But the script, to be kind, get very weird, so the rest of movie is not a cliché. However, Tiku Talsania is supposed to be funny, I guess, but I seriously think he's the worst actor I've ever seen - just acting like an angry buffoon in a painfully grating voice is not good or funny. The jungle chief is pretty much the same. As an aside, Dewana Mastana is an equally bad movie with another grating buffoon, Johnny Lever. There are a lot of fight scenes, they are the most amateurish and fake I've ever seen. In fact, about 75% of the movie seemed like an amateur effort. The director had no talent and the script was poorly, albeit weirdly, written. What a waste of some top stars like Juhi Chawla in these two movies!!!!

Better than a lot of people thought it was.

The story in this Movie revolves around two lovers, handsome Rajesh (Aamir Khan) and charming Asha (Juhi Chawla), who love each other. They are students of the same college and studying in the same class. Rajesh's father Mr. Chowdhry (Shafi Inamdar) and Asha's father Mr. Agarwal (Tiku Talsania) are well known rival builders.

A situation leads to the father's knowing about the children's involvement with each other and hence they restrict their moments. This leads the young lovers to revolt, and they elope with each other. The father's are left with nothing more than to make police complaints.

This movie was actually not terribly bad. I love Aamir Khan and perhaps that is altering my review. But this movie truly did not deserve such harsh reviews. This movie was charming, Aamir and Juhi are a great pair, has the classic cops and robbers tale told through a treasure hunt. And it has got twists here and there that make it even more entertaining. I admit that there is a section towards the end that may be boring for some viewers, but if you stick with it you will not be disappointed. That I promise.
