Think of the Mini-Series as a Bonus

With El Hazard (the first series) being such an outstanding composition, a lot of us fans were crying, "More!" Well, we were thinking more in terms of excellent storytelling, artwork, wonder, and humour, but instead got more of an echo of the first. While still entertaining as a watch, there was a bit too much 'cut and paste' as creators tried to expand the universe with the introduction of new characters and foes (a common anime mistake). All told though, some highlights abound in the silliness, more action, and a few cool ideas shuffled in. Ending had nice sweet high-point, but then doused for a cheap laugh and circular character habits.

Not as good as the others.

El Hazard 2 is probably the low point for the El Hazard series. El Hazard two is only four episodes long and some of the artwork seemed rushed. Also, in El Hazard: The Alternative World, most of the plot points from El Hazard 2 are either ignored or completely forgotten, thus making this chapter virtually a moot point. However, is does still have some good parts, and shouldn't be completely ignored.

Warning: Spoilers
this part of the EL Saga definitely doesn't get as much focus as the first original OVA. As been said, the animation is the lowest, as well as the storyline. SPOILER Ifurita was even shown as a mass produced weapon (meaning "other" Ifurita) The story gets a little bit interesting at the 2nd ep. (as Ifurita appears), but then is was disappointing and rushed in the3rd and 4th episodes. However, as it approach the ending, why?!?!? Why do they have to put another lonely Ifurita character?? Hasn't she had enough? What will happen with her, just keep living in solitary with tearful memories of Yabu in her heart??? (hope the group'n Makoto visit her once a while, but then that would disturb the 1st OVA ending mechanism which is why this 2nd OVA shouldn't exist on the first place.) The ending of the 2nd OVA has more angst than the first...so why? why????????
