Storyline

The bulldog Liberty (who's thoughts we're able to hear) is the "First Dog of the USA", i.e. the president's dog. As such he has a lot of representative duties, but also many privileges which made him snobby and condescending towards other dogs. But one day when the young Nataniel takes him for a walk, he's mixed up with the stray dog Moocher who looks like his identical twin. Henceforth Moocher takes Liberty's place in the White House. From now on a different spirit reigns in the White House... Written by Tom Zoerner <Tom.Zoerner@informatik.uni-erlangen.de>

A very funny retelling of the classic Prince And The Pauper tale.
20 January 2004 | by See all my reviews

My family and I loved this version of the classic Prince And The Pauper tale. This made for television movie by Disney/ABC is funny and has plenty of heart. Plus Fred Willard as the President and George Wendt from Cheers as a dog catcher are great. It seems like the budget must have been pretty small as they did't spring for the animated talking animal mouths like in Babe and Stuart Little. But that aside, the animal characters were so funny that it really didn't matter. Plus they do some really cool things...including parachuting.
