Adam Lambert to Miley Cyrus -- Here's a Toke-In of My Appreciation

2 November 2013 1:00 AM, PDT | TMZ | See recent TMZ news »

Adam Lambert lit up the joint earlier this week ... and then handed it to Miley Cyrus.  TMZ obtained this photo -- taken at Bootsy Bellows nightclub in West Hollywood -- showing a costumed Adam and Miley passing what sure appears to be a blunt.Miley -- who came as Lil' Kim -- is no stranger to puffin' trees, but Adam Lambert ... who knew?In case you're wondering if the club tolerates it, as Simon Cowell would say, »

Observations of an Aussie-Speaking Kiwi Composer in La

8 July 2013 12:01 AM, PDT | SCOREcastOnline.com | See recent SCOREcastOnline.com news »

I’ve been in Los Angeles since early March 2013 on an Australia Council-funded mentorship program, absorbing all things film music and SoCal: The Good, The Bad and The Bellicose. These are my reflections so far.

Transit Tantrums

La traffic on Thursday afternoon is slower than a George R. R. Martin novel…and in my case on a shuttle ride, just as gob-smacking when something finally happened. Two young girls in front were chatting excitedly about their impending adventure. Now, they weren’t exactly shrill but the conversation was audible to all. 40 minutes in, a baby-boomer businessman had an explosive outburst: “We Don’T Care about your banal existence!”…stunned silence. A whimpered response. Simmering tension until they were dropped off…at the same hotel as Mr Explosion and his embarrassed wife. Welcome to Hollywood, girls!

I went to Chattanooga for a weekend, as you do. I had a dawn flight »

Fox Acquires Spec ‘Tranquility Base;’ Scott Free Producing

26 June 2013 11:57 AM, PDT | Deadline | See recent Deadline news »

Exclusive: In a mid-six figure deal, 20th Century Fox has pre-emptively bought Tranquility Base, a spec script by first-time scribe Daniel Turkewitz. Scott Free’s Ridley Scott and Michael Schaefer and Brooklyn Weaver and Jonathan Krauss will produce what was described to me as a big-scale science fiction film that has elements of Lord Of The Flies in space. Key to the deal coming together were former Indian Paintbrush guys Mark Roybal and Michael Pruss. Roybal, who ran Indian Paintbrush for Steve Rales, became a Fox exec and Pruss moved over to Scott Free as an exec. Pruss will be exec producer and Rock Shaink will serve in a co-producing capacity on Tranquility Base. Turkewitz is an Nyu graduate who got his masters in screenwriting. Welcome to Hollywood, young man. He was repped on the deal by Weaver and atty Jeff Frankel. »

'Prometheus 2' Will Use 'Transcendence' Writer Jack Paglen To Terraform The Sequel

17 June 2013 7:11 PM, PDT | The Playlist | See recent The Playlist news »

Welcome to HollywoodJack Paglen. The writer has seen a quick ascension up the Hollywood food chain, thanks to his 2012 Black List placing script for "Transcendence," which is now being made into a Wally Pfister-directed, Christopher Nolan-produced, Johnny Depp-starring movie. Not bad. And for his next trick? He's jumping on board what could be the most difficult sequel in development. Yep, the "Prometheus" sequel is indeed brewing, and Fox are in negotiations for Paglen to write the script. He's inheriting a movie that got a very mixed reception, as well as a franchise that is beloved and practically guarded by fans with very, very high expectations. Regardless, it's a massive stepping stone for Paglen, and if he nails it, the gig could see his career vaulted even further than before. It's easy to see why he'd be willing to take it on -- it's a big challenge »

American Idol Review: Born On The Bayou

24 January 2013 6:09 PM, PST | TVfanatic | See recent TVfanatic news »

American Idol rolled into Baton Rouge, Louisiana tonight, home state of Randy Jackson and last year's top three finalist, Joshua Ledet

Before the judging can begin, Mariah has to show off one of her many talents and fix Randy's makeup. And The Dog wears a lot of makeup, guys. Mariah says that everyone needs a fall-back plan and she's a beauty school drop-out. Judging by all the makeup, Randy's fall-back plan is filling in for his statue at Madame Tussaud's.

Now that they're primped and preened, let's get down to business...

Miss Baton Rouge is here to audition and she brought her crutches with her. Megan Miller had a car accident three days before Idol rolled into town, but since her dreams are at stake, she told the doctors the surgery to fix her leg would have to wait. She walked into the room and wowed the judges into compliments and a unanimous yes. »
