Watch: Fallon's Fake News Show Returns

7 April 2012 11:00 AM, PDT | Huffington Post | See recent Huffington Post news »

Earlier this year Jimmy Fallon introduced a new fake news segment to "Late Night" appropriately called "Night News Now," which harkened back to his days as a "Weekend Update" anchor on "SNL."

Now, a month-and-a-half later, it's back!

When Fallon puts on his special blazer, he is transformed into a deadpan anchor delivering news briefs (with an emphasis on the brief) at his desk. In this edition, Fallon takes a few jabs at the Gop candidates, presents "reports" on the weather and sports, does his "Tick Tock Tech Talk," deals with a graphics mishap and even finds time to do an Adele parody that's way funnier than it should be.

Also be sure to look out for Eugene Levy as Ed Lemer, an Economist who equates the current financial crisis to a pool noodle, and a special Rick Santorum treat at the end. Watch above. »

The Walking Dead Season 2 Episode 211 'Judge, Jury, Executioner' Review

6 March 2012 5:16 AM, PST | TheHDRoom | See recent TheHDRoom news »

I have previously said that AMC's The Walking Dead television show needs to be digested separate from the comic book, but I still find myself at times expecting the familiar plot points to happen and in the same timeframe. I fell victim to this approach again with 'Judge, Jury, Executioner,' but this time I was pleasantly surprised rather than slightly disappointed.

What follows is not my traditional reviews, but a scene-by-scene as-it-happens recap:

Darryl plays the part of Rick's enforcer in the pre-opening credits sequence, beating the crap out of Randall as a form of interrogation. The rough tactic appeared to work with Randall admitting at one point to being a passive contributor to a gang rape. He probably could have left that bit out when a raging redneck is using your face to reshape his knuckles.

Oh man, somebody just drag Dale out to a pasture and put his tired ass out down. »

Watch: Fallon Introduces 'Weekend Update' Style News Segment

18 February 2012 10:53 AM, PST | Huffington Post | See recent Huffington Post news »

Perhaps seeing fellow "Saturday Night Live" alum Maya Rudolph heading back to studio 8H to host this weekend made Jimmy Fallon a little nostalgic for his "Weekend Update" days, because on Friday night's "Late Night," he premiered a new news segment that feels oddly familiar.

"Night News Now" is Fallon and the "Late Night" crew's foray into fake news, with Fallon donning a special blazer and delivering news briefs (with an emphasis on the brief) at his desk.

But it's also so much more than that. Cramming the traditional newsdesk bits along with a comic's understanding of "Sports," a "Tick Tock Tech Talk," a "Traffic Chopter" report, a "Dateline"-style video feature about a bad smell in the office And a roundtable political discussion into just a few minutes is pretty impressive.

We think you'll find it's much sillier than "Weekend Update" and occasionally as deadpan as "The Onion News Network, »

BAFTA Video Game Awards 2012 – The Nominations

16 February 2012 4:19 AM, PST | Blogomatic3000 | See recent Blogomatic3000 news »

Last week it was all about the 2012 BAFTA Film Awards, and now sees our attention turn to gaming with the announcement of the nominees for the BAFTA Video Game Awards 2012. We were there last year and hope to be covering it again this year. But in the meantime here’s the full list of nominees, featuring the cream of the crop of video gaming.

Personally I hope Uncharted 3 sweeps the board in all the categories its nominated in, and – being a Mario fan – I hope Super Mario 3D Land and Mario Kart 7 pick up awards… although Dead Space iOS could give them a run for the money in the handheld categories!

Assassin’s Creed Revelations – Martin Schelling, Darby McDevitt, Raphael Lacoste / Ubisoft Montreal/Ubisoft Batman: Arkham City – Jamie Walker, Sefton Hill, Adam Doherty / Rocksteady Studios/Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 – Development Team / Infinity Ward »

Doctor Who complete reviews: Closing Time

13 January 2012 9:00 AM, PST | Shadowlocked | See recent Shadowlocked news »

So The Doctor's on yet another goodbye mission. Since bidding adieu to Amy and Rory at the end of The God Complex, nearly 200 years have passed. Now The Doctor's apparently facing the end of his days – note the word, apparently – by now, every man, woman, child, cat, dog, guinea pig, hamster and fly realised that The Doctor wouldn't die – you can't have a successful, long-running show and then just axe it without warning. Not even a cut-ridden BBC can kill off that indomitable Time Lord for good.

But hey – any excuse for yet another whistle-stop tour of old friends. Presumably, in the future, The Doctor will take this to the next level. He'll go out and buy himself a musty old copy of the Doctor Who A-z Encyclopaedia by Jean-Marc Lofficier and visit every last character he's met during his many lives – yes, right down to the bumbling Louvre Guide »
