Storyline

The show starts with Fiona Phillips, the daughter of two singers, who's been mourning the death of her father most of her life. Fi also has an obsession with all things strange, from ghosts to aliens to trolls, all of which she investigates with the help of her laptop while traveling across country on her mom's tour bus. Although her brother and friends don't believe her all of the time, Fi refuses to give up. As her search for the mysterious goes deeper, she begins to learn things about herself and, more importantly, about her father. After a few years, she passes on her quest to her friend, a promising young singer named Annie. Written by Max Vaughn

Trivia

The executive producers pitched an idea for a season three that would continue the heavy themes of the show. If things had gone according to plan, instead of "Avatar", there would have been "Chrysalis". "Chrysalis" would have had a similar Fi-lite adventure in which Carey would have turned out to have an alcohol problem alongside playing host to a parasitic caterpillar, and Jack would have helped him out. At the same time, there would be a revisit of Rebecca from 1x09 "Rebecca" where she was going to make contact with Molly through email, and Molly's back-story as an alcoholic would have been explored. This was all to be set up for Rebecca's role in season three. Additionally, 2x26 "Twin" would have had Rick reveal Fi had some special destiny and would have ended with the wraith taking him out, leaving the threat of an evil alliance out there and giving Fi the motivation to investigate it to rescue her father. In season three, Jack would have ended up being the reincarnation of some ancient heroic knight-thus explaining why the dragon was afraid of him in 1x08 "Strangeling", and why a shot of him fades into an O'Siannon suit of armor in 2x11 "Banshee". Rebecca would have shown up to explain who Jack was in a past life, having known him personally. Jack would have joined Fi to fight the evil alliance. The aliens, which never do anything in the first two seasons past being mysterious, would have revealed that Fi has some special genetic makeup that makes her and various beings like her throughout the galaxy specifically qualified to help people. She would have been visited by her alien counterpart, who also had a father stolen by the forces of evil, and it would have helped her with information throughout the season. Molly's witch powers would have been explored, with the reveal that some of her songs are prophecies. Bricriu would have possessed Fi herself, and Molly's priest brother would have exorcised her. Bricriu would ultimately switch sides because he doesn't like being in a hierarchy. The series would have ended with Fi traveling into Hell, defeating the evil alliance, and rescuing her father. Because the alliance took Rick before his time, he would have been allowed to stay on Earth with his family. This is all foreshadowed in the "In the Darkness" song. Disney rejected all of this and demanded the lighter season three that we got. See more »

suprising
5 March 2001 | by See all my reviews

this show is suprisingly good. i was skeptical, for i am a big x-files

fan and i heard it was like the x-files for the younger crowd, so i

decided to give it a chance. i was very impressed. Fi is a strong

charachter (whom i would like to see return soon) who is very determined

to find anything and everything paranormal. Her brother Jack is the

skeptic, and teases her any chance he gets, but you can still tell that he

cares for his baby sister. Clu is the lovable doofus that they always

have on every show. he is a free spirit type, and he is funny. he adds a

lot of atmosphere to the show. Molly is the typical loving mom/pop star

who writes cool songs with bizzare lyrics and haunting melodies. the new

girl Annie is smart and recourceful like Fi, but she lacks a lot of the

drive that Fi has. the mysteries seem to come to her instead of her

finding them. ill admit there were a few really corny episodes in this

series, but for the most part this show is imaginative and smart! it is

a good show for people of all ages.
