In 1996, the prospect arose for Roseanne Barr to interview Mike Tyson for an hour-long ABC TV special which would air prior to his fight with Evander Holyfield. When the deal fell through with ABC, Roseanne pitched the idea to King World Entertainment and got them to run her interview in installments on Inside Edition (1988) during the first week of November 1996 . This interview served as a pilot for Roseanne's talk show, which King World also produced and distributed.
