Worth Every Trip to The Movies
3 August 1999 | by (Prague, Czech Republic) – See all my reviews

Basically, the classic story line-boy loves girl, boy loses girl to best friend but with the added advantage of her staying lost. He and his family, including a father who is communist but with a human face live below her and her family, including a father who despises all things socialist. Of course there is well played tension but it is lightly guided into a sad humor. The film is dedicated to all those who lost friends and family to emigration during communism here. It tells one of their stories with such empathy that I'd recommend it to anyone who wants to have a window on the Czech Republic.
