Storyline

Alex Dalton is a 30-year-old airplane mechanic who dreams of winning the gold medal in Olympic figure skating, but is troubled by his past after walking out of a competition against a rival Russian figure staking. Alex's dreams put a strain on his demanding father Edgar who wants him to abandon his dreams to help him run his mechanic business. Then, a shady business manager, named Brian Burke, offers to sponsor Alex for him to achieve his dream, but as a cost of firing his old coach Tom Bryant. With a sponsor, a new coach, and publicity, Alex sees his dream coming true, only to soon learn that his sponsor and new coach plan to fix the judging of all the figure skating competitions so they can use Alex and his newfound fame for personal gain. Thank God for Joey!!
16 February 2007 | by (United States) – See all my reviews

Grizzly Adams seemed burned out and uninspired and was not convincing as a coach. There was no coherence between the scenes and overall, this movie seemed quite disjointed. Honestly, I would have rated this movie 1 star if it wasn't for the character Joey, played by Curtis Socha. While his part was fleeting at best, he literally stole the show. Beyond his hilarious facial expressions, I was particularly struck by his impressive posturing - he struck me as an authentic figure skater, not some B-movie actor. His role should have been expanded to include some skating, I bet he would have been outstanding.

The movie as a whole was pretty terrible, but all I have to say is "Thank God for Joey!"
