‘Unfinished Business’ VOD Review

Stars: Vince Vaughn, Tom Wilkinson, Dave Franco, Sienna Miller, June Diane Raphael, Britton Sear, Ella Anderson, Nick Frost, James Marsden | Written by Steve Conrad | Directed by Ken Scott

Daniel Trunkman (Vaughn), a hard-working but disillusioned salesman, decides to set up on his own and take on the big man – or more specifically his cut-throat former boss Chuck (Miller). Accompanied by two unlikely associates; Timothy McWinters (Wilkinson) and Mike Pancake (Franco), he travels to Europe to close the most important deal of his life. But what begins as a routine business trip goes off the rails in every imaginable – and unimaginable – way, including unplanned stops at a massive sex fetish event and a global economic summit.

Ken Scott, director of Starbuck and its Us remake Delivery Man, seems to have cornered the market in broad comedies with emotional heart. Delivery Man could have been just another gross out comedy about

The critics have spoken, and 12 Years a Slave has been named Best Picture of the Year at the 19th Annual Critics' Choice Awards.

Slave beat out American Hustle, Her, Gravity, Captain Phillips, Nebraska, The Wolf of Wall Street, Saving Mr. Banks, Inside Llewyn Davis and Dallas Buyers Club at a ceremony that came just hours after the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences named their nominations for this year's Oscars.

Getting off on a comedic foot, Anchorman 2 stars Christina Applegate and James Marsden presented the award for Best Actor in a Comedy Movie to Leonardo DiCaprio for The Wolf Of Wall Street, while Amy Adams was named Best Actress in a Comedy for American Hustle, which also won the award for Best Comedy Movie.

Geek Gossip: Robot & Frank, Secret Village, Ditch, Broken, A House Is Not A Home, Pain is Beautiful, Miss Poppins

It's the reign of the robots on screen, even though Spielberg's Robopocalypse went back to the drawing board for a total rethink.

Guillermo del Toro's Pacific Rim will show pilot-operated machines tackling an invasion of giant monsters, another Transformers is on the way and the next X-Men film is an exciting time-travel tale that will see mutant-hunting Sentinels targeting the team.

Continuing the trend but on a much smaller scale is Robot & Frank, which will be released in cinemas across the UK and Ireland on March 8, 2013.

An official UK poster was recently unveiled for the movie, which is directed by Jake Schreier and stars Frank Langella, Susan Sarandon, James Marsden and Liv Tyler, with Robot voiced by Peter Sarsgaard.

Robot & Frank is a buddy caper. Set in the near future, ageing curmudgeon and retired jewel thief Frank (Frank Langella) lives a solitary life until his son (James Marsden) installs a caretaker robot,

Photo of Oprah Winfrey and Terrence Howard in Lee Daniels’ The Butler

  • Filmofilia
Oprah Winfrey looking great in this completely new image from the upcoming Lee Daniel‘s The Butler movie…that’s all I can say about this photo right now, and maybe also add that Terrence Howard is cute as well.

But Oprah is really something special, I never thought that a talk show icon could look so confident in such a huge movie project.

So, is this some weird love scene, or what? Weird – why? Well, maybe because we already know that Winfrey stars as Forest Whitaker‘s wife. And Whitaker is not Howard, if you know what I mean.

The movie will tell us a true story of a man who served as a butler to eight Presidents in the White House for over thirty years. Using that story, Daniel’s will also show us the dramatic changes that swept American society, from the civil rights movement to Vietnam and beyond,

BAFTA Video Game Awards 2012 – The Nominations

Last week it was all about the 2012 BAFTA Film Awards, and now sees our attention turn to gaming with the announcement of the nominees for the BAFTA Video Game Awards 2012. We were there last year and hope to be covering it again this year. But in the meantime here’s the full list of nominees, featuring the cream of the crop of video gaming.

Personally I hope Uncharted 3 sweeps the board in all the categories its nominated in, and – being a Mario fan – I hope Super Mario 3D Land and Mario Kart 7 pick up awards… although Dead Space iOS could give them a run for the money in the handheld categories!

Straw Dogs (2011) – The Review

Written and directed by Rod Lurie (The Contender, The Last Castle), Straw Dogs (2011) is actually a reasonably successful generic popcorn thriller, focused on revenge. On its own, its no better or worse than most of the Hollywood fare churned out each year. However, as a remake to Sam Peckinpah.s film, Lurie fails completely at capturing the same level of deep character development and situational tension. For those viewers who see Straw Dogs (2011) without having seen the original, a population which is apparently frightfully large, the film works. Unfortunately, for those who.ve seen the original, I fear you.ll find it difficult to look past the remake.s inadequacies and be left with a foul taste in your mouth.

Straw Dogs (2011) stars James Marsden (X-men, Enchanted) as David Sumner, making an effort to fill the shoes of Dustin Hoffman. David is an La screenwriter, educated and relatively well-off compared to the residents of Blackwater,

Top 21 Most Anticipated Movies Coming in the Second Half of 2011

We have six months to go and a lot of movies left to watch, and as was evidenced by the six films I included in my "Top Ten of the Year Contenders" on yesterday's The Best and Worst Movies of 2011... So Far post, there haven't been a ton of excellent films in theaters just yet. Three of those six films I saw at the Cannes Film Festival and only one of them has hit theaters so far (Midnight in Paris). This means we have to wash away the taste of the last six months. Sure, there were some good films and films we will all likely revisit over the years, but I think we can all generally agree 2011 hasn't exactly been a stellar year for movies.

So what's coming up? Well, I was able to compile a list of the top 21 (plus three) films I'm personally looking forward to seeing.
