“Ahsoka” is quietly going down as one of the best pieces of “Star Wars” content we’ve had in years alongside “Andor.” Playing largely as a live-action fifth season of the cherished animated series “Rebels,” this Disney+’s hit takes place after “Return of the Jedi” when the Galactic Empire has fallen. However, all is not as well in the galaxy as it might seem as former Jedi Knight Ahsoka Tano begins to uncover a plot to re-introduce the Empire into a galaxy still finding its feet amidst a new order.
A large part of the show’s success should be attributed to Rosario Dawson, who plays Ahsoka as wise, calm, and assured in the face of so much uncertainty and chaos. Dawson brings to life this live-action version of Ahsoka with maturity, sophistication, and a deftness of touch that befits the character’s arc from bratty youth in the...

It was a star-studded night at Manhattan’s Pierre Hotel as over 150 artists — including stars Tim Gunn, Stephen Colbert, and Audra McDonald (and yes, even some Muppets) — came out to celebrate stage and screen star Neil Patrick Harris at the Drama League’s 30th annual all-star gala.
It’s no secret that Harris — who will soon be back on stage starring in a new version of Hedwig and the Angry Inch, which opens April 14 — has garnered quite an admiration from the communities he’s been involved in. But there was no question Monday night that Harris is admired for more than just his talent.

So sad. In what should have been a poignant moment, Cory’s remembrance at the Grammys on Jan. 26 was soured when they spelled his name wrong during the “In Memoriam” segment.
It was fitting that the Grammy Awards honored Cory Monteith by including him in their “In Memoriam” segment on Jan. 26 and trying to remember all the great contributions he made to the music world. However, the ceremony’s execution of the tribute left a whole lot to be desired.
Grammys Misspells Cory Monteith’s Name In ‘In Memoriam’ Segment
Glee fans likely noticed the second Cory’s name flashed onto the screen — they spelled his name wrong! Next to an emotional headshot of Cory, the name read “Cory Montieth.” His name was only up for a few seconds, but the damage had already been done.

I’m sorry to report that 2013 is almost over, because it’s going to be remembered as a year of fabulous cinema and seriously award-worthy performances. Before we settle in for another season of televised trophy handouts, let’s contribute our own accolades: Here are our 10 favorite movie performances of 2013.
10. Amy Adams, American Hustle
I don’t quite understand the breathless adulation for American Hustle, which is shaping up to being one of the best-reviewed movies of the year in spite of its ridiculous, bafflingly hammy characters. But Amy Adams’ turn as the accent-twisting Sydney Prosser reminds of you of her Oscar-nominated work in The Fighter: That Veronica Lake coif conceals grim, resolute power and a bit of fear. Amy Adams is the master (teehee!) of pairing silent conviction and nervous energy, even when she’s in the middle of a high-stakes, allegiance-shifting love triangle with Bradley Cooper and...

Whatever you thought of the overall episode, the "Glee" tribute to Cory Monteith -- "The Quarterback" -- featured some amazing music. Watch videos of Lea Michele, Amber Riley, Naya Rivera and the rest singing their goodbyes to Finn Hudson.
First up is Rachel (Michele) singing a beautiful and tearful rendition of "Make You Feel My Love."
Mercedes (Riley) also gave a notable performance. In this case, the singer did her own version of a song sung by Finn back in Season 1, "I'll Stand by You."
One of the most emotional performances in "The Quarterback" came from a surprising source, Santana (Rivera). She sang an a cappella version of The Band Perry's "If I Die Young."
The whole episode opened with much of the cast singing "Seasons of Love" from the musical, "Rent." This choice is especially appropriate because of that play's history -- the writer of the show, Jonathan Larson,...

It was my 16-year-old cousin who texted to tell me Cory Monteith had passed away. I’d chatted to her months earlier at a family reunion. She’d been tucked away in a corner reading her Bible (no joke), too shy and self-conscious to talk to all these strangers who called themselves family. I asked her the normal things: school (fine), summer vacation (fine), getting her driver’s license (fine), hobbies (she plays multiple instruments in the band and the orchestra). And so I said: “Do you watch Glee?” Her posture relaxed, her breath escaped her body in a relieved rush of air, her face lit up like Christmas. Watch it? Watch it? She lived it.
She talked at me for two solid hours, barely pausing to breathe, telling me about artsy kids in her school getting slushied in real life, and how Glee was her refuge, her stronghold, and...

Within seconds of the opening strains of “Seasons of Love” the Twitterverse exploded with messages of condolences and support as Glee fans all over the globe said #farewellfinn during the highly anticipated (and dreaded) Cory Monteith tribute episode. In short, I cried. A lot. And since I read on the internet that group therapy is beneficial, here are the five most moving moments from last night’s show. Get your shirt sleeve forearm tissues ready.
#5 Santana Sings The Band Perry’s “If I Die Young”
Naya Rivera‘s soulful R&B styling of The Band Perry’s country hit was the tipping point of no return when it came to the waterworks. Santana’s breakdown during the middle of the track coupled with her physical reaction to her grief minutes before made for a pretty powerful solo. The lyrics “what I never did is done” never held so much meaning...

Glee said goodbye to Finn Hudson and Cory Monteith Thursday night with an hour that was very moving – how could it not be? – but also very kind.
Kind because a viewer's buttons were never pushed. Whatever you felt just seemed to come, scene by scene, as everyone found a way to articulate their grief. And, of course, to sing.
Monteith, who was only 31 when he died July 13 from a mixture of alcohol and heroin, had already shot appearances in the season's first two episodes – those, a salute to the Beatles, were re-edited leading up to last night's memorial. They constituted...

Friends, Gleeks, bring on the tears. Also, for Burt Hummel’s sake be sure to hug someone you love after watching this gut wrenching tribute to everyone’s favorite quarterback, Finn Hudson.
I should start out this review with one minor disclaimer: I am a former Gleek. I stopped watching around the time Blaine transferred to McKinley because I felt that was when the show really jumped the shark (or nuked the fridge, your choice). That being said, Finn was always my favorite character from the beginning and for me personally, as well as most Gleeks more than likely, tonight’s episode literally caused physical pain as we watched the raw emotion of the actors mourning their friend Cory Monteith, taken from us far too early by the demons of addiction. There was no way I wasn’t going to go back for just this one night.

‘The Quarterback’ was absolutely the most emotional, heart-wrenching episode of ‘Glee’ that we could imagine. Paying tribute to the late Cory Monteith and his character, Finn, the originals gathered back at McKinley High School to say one last goodbye.
Rachel (Lea Michele) returned to the choir room on the Oct. 10 episode of Glee, to join the New Directions, where they each remembered their friend, Finn Hudson (Cory Monteith).
Glee Club Struggles With How To Say Goodbye
When the classmates at McKinley are going through a tough time, singing always makes them feel better. So, it’s no surprise that the current, as well as returning members, took to song to honor their fallen friend, Finn.
“Memorialize him the way we only way we know how – by singing,” Mr. Schuester (Matthew Morrison) told the students. However, it wasn’t an easy thing for the them to do.

"Glee" took a step away from cheery Beatles tunes to honor the memory of the character of Finn Hudson, played by Cory Monteith. Did the episode do Monteith and his fans justice?
It's not the easiest question to answer. Parts of the episode felt cheesy and forced. Other parts were devastating in the raw sadness shown. Overall, we may have gotten a great tribute but not a truly great episode. At least they left the auto-tune out of this one -- not hearing the real voices would have been an awful tribute to anyone.
But hey, sometimes things don't work out quite the way they were planned. That's what this episode is all about, isn't it?
Here's what happened.
Just dive right in, why don't we?
If you expected some story to start off an episode that has a big one, you would be disappointed. "Glee" didn't go that route.

"Glee" paid tribute to star Cory Monteith on Thursday night, in an episode simply titled "The Quarterback."Original cast members Amber Riley, Mark Salling, and Harry Shum Jr. returned and joined the current cast for their opening number, "Seasons of Love" from "Rent" (Dianna Agron was noticeably absent after reports of her not getting along with the cast): The plot didn't mention how Cory's character Finn passed away (Monteith died of a drug overdose in July)."Everyone wants to talk about how he dies, but who cares," Chris Colfer, who played Cory's on-screen brother Kurt, asked. "I'm going to spend my entire life missing him."There were a number of emotional performances, including one heart-wrenching one from Finn's parents, Carole (Romy Rosemont) and Burt (Mike O'Malley). But the toughest moment came at the end, when Finn's onetime fiancee Rachel (played by real-life girlfriend Lea Michele) returned to McKinley High's glee club.

One of Glee‘s greatest gifts over the past five seasons has been its ability to convey deep emotions and advance its storylines through its musical numbers.
Who can forget the dissolution of three central romances set to “The Scientist”? Or Kurt’s vigil for his ailing dad, as he sang the Beatles’ “I Want to Hold Your Hand”? And then, of course, there was Rachel’s sectionals triumph, a soaring, seminal moment thanks to Lea Michele’s spectacular “Don’t Rain on My Parade.”

It was an episode the fans didn't want to see, an episode the cast didn't want to film and an episode the crew didn't want to make. But The Quarterback, Glee's posthumous tribute to Cory Monteith, and by extension Finn Hudson, was a painful but powerful hour of television.

There is a good chance that "The Quarterback," this Thursday's "Glee" tribute to Cory Monteith and Finn Hudson will be one of the most emotional hours of television this season. Several months later, Monteith's shocking death still feels a bit raw, and moving music is only going to make that feeling stronger.
What songs will make up that tribute? Listen to six of them here -- music from artists like James Taylor, Bruce Springsteen and more.
The tribute episode will -- not surprisingly -- feature a lot of the original cast of "Glee." A group of those characters -- Mercedes, Santana, Kurt, Puck, Tina and Mike Chang -- will collaborate on the "Rent" classic, "Seasons of Love." Artie and Sam will then duet with "Fire and Rain" by James Taylor. Mercedes gets a solo with The Pretenders' "I'll Stand by You" -- a song performed in Season 1 by Finn. Santana...

Cory Monteith's death still is a shocker for fans and friends alike. On Thursday, Fox hit series "Glee" will say farewell to Finn Hudson — played of course by the late Canadian actor Cory Monteith who died after taking a lethal heroin-alcohol mix in July. All proceeds generated by the tribute’s music will go to Project Limelight Society, an arts organization in Monteith’s native Canada. Listen to the emotional song here:...

If the promo for Glee‘s Oct. 10 Cory Monteith tribute got you all choked up, you might want to take a minute before listening to the episode’s soundtrack, which has just hit the web.
From the group numbers, like “Seasons Of Love” and “Fire And Rain,” to the solos, like Naya Rivera‘s “If I Die Young” and Mark Salling‘s “No Surrender,” it’s clear this is the most emotional collection of songs Glee has ever put out. These aren’t just characters singing about someone who’s been written off a show; they’re very real people belting out their very real emotions, which comes through loud and clear.

Man, this week’s Glee is going to be tough to watch.
On Thursday, the show will officially say farewell to Finn Hudson — and, by extension, to Cory Monteith, who died after taking a lethal heroin-alcohol mix in July. The song list for this special episode will include “Seasons of Love” from the musical Rent, Adele’s version of Bob Dylan’s “Make You Feel My Love” — sung by Monteith’s on- and off-screen girlfriend Lea Michele — and The Band Perry’s “If I Die Young,” performed by Monteith’s costar Naya Rivera. Get your tissues ready. The most anticipated and emotional episode of ‘Glee’ will air on Oct. 10, and the new 30-second trailer has every character sobbing while they pay tribute to the late Cory Monteith.
In the promo for Glee‘s tribute episode, “The Quarterback,” the halls of McKinley High are silent and deserted. During an emotional rendition of “Make You Feel My Love,” we see both old and new faces remembering their classmate, Finn Hudson, while they also remember their true friend, Cory Monteith.

After seeing the new promo and composing ourselves, we know that next week’s tribute will be a beautiful way to remember Cory.
We see the current students at McKinley gathered around Finn’s old locker, setting down flowers, “We’ll miss you” cards, candles, and a football. Many alumni of the school also return, including Kurt (Chris Colfer) who is...

You're going to want some tissues handy for this one."Glee" just released the first look at next week's "The Quarterback" episode -- the tribute episode for Cory Monteith and his character Finn Hudson.Set to Lea Michele singing Bob Dylan's "Make You Feel My Love," it packs an emotional punch, with shots of the entire cast grieving the loss of one of their own.Seeing Kurt (Chris Colfer) break down while wearing Finn's letterman jacket and a teary-eyed Rachel (Cory's real-life girlfriend, Lea Michele) get cradled by Mr. Schuester (Matthew Morrison) is devastating. This will clearly be a very tough episode to watch and we can't imagine how hard it was for the stars, especially Lea, to film."I'm very proud of it. I think the performances are quite stunning," series creator Ryan Murphy told E! about the episode. "People still are not over it. It's still very,...

Live! With Regis & Kelly is finished. Long live Regis!
Yes, today marked host Regis Philbin’s farewell telecast after 28 seasons of his fun, freewheeling morning show — it’ll continue as Live! With Kelly until a permanent cohost is found — and while the hour was perhaps less emotionally compelling than I’d expected, it had three particularly memorable moments:

Regis Philbin just finished his last "Live" show after 28 years on the air -- and it was a pretty emotional hour. The audience was packed with familiar faces including Donald Trump , Katie Couric , Diane Sawyer and Tony Danza -- who shouted "We love you, Regis!" Regis was given the Key to the City by Mayor Bloomberg , his wife and children made pre-packaged tributes, the cast of " Rent " performed a re-worked version of " Seasons of Love " and Kelly Ripa made a touching speech about her co-star -- watch that below. Reeg closed the show with his own personal goodbye: "28 and a half years and we've had a wonderful show and a great time ... I'll always remember spending these mornings with all of you. Thank you very much for these great years together, God bless you all and I hope I see you again real soon." Short and sweet. Check it out above.

I’ve always harbored a secret dream of seeing SuperNanny Jo Frost cast on Dancing With the Stars, but never moreso than during this week’s blowout battle between Maksim Chmerkovskiy and our maddening panel of judges. The thing is, though, I’m not sure who was more in need of some stern British discipline.
Oh sure, Maks should’ve been sent directly to the Naughty Step — without passing go, and without collecting $200 — for freaking out over a not-unwarranted negative critique and suggesting Len Goodman was too old for primetime, but there was a legitimate point behind his temper tantrum:...

If you happened to watch “Dancing With the Stars” live Monday, you probably would have seen the intense blow-up “Dancing” pro and fan-favorite Maksim Chmerkovskiy had with judges Len Goodman, Carrie Ann Inaba and Bruno Tonioli. Chmerkovskiy got annoyed with the judges when they heavily criticized the dancing of his partner, soccer star Hope Solo. His anger was particularly directed at Goodman, who said Solo led too many times with heels. He also said that while he hasn’t lost hope in her, this dance–a rumba to “Seasons of Love” from the Broadway musical “Rent”–was her worst dance this season. After Goodman said that most of the problem was Chrmkovskiy’s fault–who...

J.R. Martinez and Ricki Lake are clearly the stars to beat this season on DWTS.
Not that their dance moves don't deserve that designation, but the judges seem bent on helping them out as well. There was a major dropoff between their scores and everyone else's.
You can't deny that after some unjust eliminations in recent seasons, they must be scratching their heads a bit. So by padding the scores toward the favorites, they provide a buffer.
That's just a theory, and doesn't change the fact that J.R. and Ricki are undoubtedly the best. But it was enough to set off Maksim Chmerkovskiy after Hope Solo earned low scores.
Hope Solo's rumba to "Seasons of Love" was panned by Len, who called it her "worst dance" and drew boos from the audience, to which he said he'd been doing this for 50 years.
Maks suggested that perhaps it was "time to get out.
