worst movie ever... worse than the urban menace!
19 December 2002 | by (london) – See all my reviews

Spoilers It was a fine summer evening when my father brought home 'bayou ghost'. I'd never heard of the film, and i didn't recognize any of the actors. 'great entertainment for the whole family!' said the movie cover. i quickly forgot about it until a few hours when my father forced us to watch it together. big mistake.

this movie tries really hard to be stand by me. however, it fails on all accounts, except for the fact that both movies had boys as main characters. *possible spoilers, not that it would matter, because no one would ever see this movie*

a bunch of young boys go around looking for the legendary 'bayou ghost'in the woods of louisiana. however, the bayou ghost is really a young teen who ran away from home because his foster parents were abusing him. so he dresses up in chicken bones, gasoline soaked rags, stained sweat pants and lots of scary foliage. it's obvious that the costume for the bayou ghost made up most of the 12 dollar budget for this film. but, bayou runaway kid misses having other kids around, so he reveals his true, non bayou-ghost nature to the boys. they all become the best of friends and get into lots of hijinks together. these hijinks always end in bayou ghost kid awkwardly putting his arm around the other kids, who couldn't act decent in a good script, let alone in this movie. everyone sort of gets all shift-eyed and nervous whenever arms are put over other arms.

after a while, the preacher's promiscuous daughter runs away with her boyfriend for a lovers weekend, after telling her best friend to tell everyone that 'the bayou ghost' got her. soon, the whole town is after the bayou ghost to save the girl from his stinky, lecherous clutches. even after everyone finds out that the bayou ghost is really just a runaway kid dressed up in old chicken bones, they still decide to kill him because they get really upset upon realizing that they were fooled by a young teen who had gotten away with stealing all the pies that were left to cool on window sills. so, to make a long story short, it seems like bayou ghost kid is dead, but in fact, 20 years later, he returns, to say 'i'm not really dead!' and that's the end of the movie.

if you've ever really hated someone, you should leave this movie on their doorstep with a note signed 'your secret admirer.. watching this movie will give you clues to my identify'. a few hours later, when you're hiding in the bushes, you'll see your nemesis rush from their home in tears, probably in order to run into traffic.

enjoy.
