The end of daylight-saving time sent ratings for many syndicated shows racing up the chart during the week ending Nov. 3, according to Nielsen Media Research data. The frame also included the first two weekdays of the November sweep. Primetime access programming played especially well, with the top six off-network sitcoms hitting season highs. Friends (7.3) was up 7%, Seinfeld (7.2) gained 11% and Everybody Loves Raymond (6.7) and Will & Grace (4.4) were both up 10% for the week. That '70s Show (3.7) jumped 16%, and Home Improvement (3.5) gained 6%. Three of the four access magazine strips also were on the rise for the week. Entertainment Tonight (6.1) hit its highest number in 30 weeks with a week-to-week gain of 9%. Inside Edition (3.2) was unchanged, Extra (2.9) was up 12% to a season high, and Access Hollywood (2.7) gained 13% week-to-week. »
