One of the worst movies I've ever seen.
6 July 2001 | by (The Midwest, USA) – See all my reviews

The Giving Tree was, in my opinion, a horrible rip-off of The Big Chill, with way too many characters to get to know. There were nine "best friends" from high school, but we are told none of their history together, except those of whom were involved in the twist that this film supposedly turns upon. I spent the entire movie rolling my eyes, groaning, and occasionally wincing, as when two of the characters commit a ridiculous theft for drug money. Christina Applegate, Moon Zappa, and Molly Ringwald were the only actors I recognized in the film, and I feel sorry for them to have been connected with such a piece of crap.
