The Channel Four backing of the Children's Film Unit not only acquired the professional talents of film-makers for free, but encouraged the involvement of children in the acting and production areas. This film had several children behind the scenes operating technical equipment. Their ages are as follows at the time of production (1990) - Assistand Director Barker aged 14; Camera Operators Cairney (aged 15), Asquith (16), Goldsmith (16), Duffield (14); and Sound by Dawson (15), Rennie (16), Casson (14) and Butcher aged 14.
Emily's Ghost was filmed at Stoke College, an Independent Day and Boarding School in Stoke-By-Clare, Suffolk.
