Anachronisms 

The pink pizza delivery vehicle at the convent is a Russian Lada Niva which was never sold in the United States and only started to be imported into Canada after 1979.
When Jam and his mother get into the station wagon in front of RFK High, a road at the top of the screen has very recent model SUVs, minivans, and cars traveling on it.

Though it's likely these issues were initially published in November and December 1978 respectively, the movie is clearly set during the summer of 1978.
