Susan Sarandon And Tim Robbins' Split, 'Crazy Heart' And Stray Peacocks In Today's Twitter-Wood

23 December 2009 3:30 PM, PST | MTV Movies Blog | See recent MTV Movies Blog news »

Jeff Bridges' performance in "Crazy Heart" was good enough for the Golden Globes, and it was good enough for Rob Zombie as well, judging by his tweets. Kevin Smith, meanwhile, had a positively-used expletive to describe his own experience watching Edgar Wright's unreleased "Scott Pilgrim vs. The World."

Less giddy was producer Jeff Katz, who used a sports metaphor to express his reaction to news that Susan Sarandon and Tim Robbins have split. I'll let you parse and interpret that one, as his references to Bobby Bowden and Joe Paterno went a little over my head. You can do so after the jump where you will also learn about Ice-t's recent "Modern Warfare 2" accomplishments, when Emmy Rossum will begin taking trapeze lessons and who found a stray peacock in their back yard. It's all retweeted in Twitter-Wood report for December 23, 2009.

Mike Judge talks 'Extract': Dinner with the 'Beavis and Butt-head' creator

21 December 2009 4:08 PM, PST | Zap2It - From Inside the Box | See recent Zap2It - From Inside the Box news »

When I'm offered a dinner with director Mike Judge, there's very little convincing needed.

Not only is Judge responsible for the underrated comedy "Extract"  (available on DVD and Blu-Ray on Tuesday, Dec. 22) but he's also the sly genius behind Fox's Emmy-winning "King of the Hill," the 1990s iconic cartoon "Beavis and Butt-head" and one of the best workplace comedies of all time, "Office Space."

It was a cool December evening when my fellow reporters and I descended upon Joe's Restaurant in Venice, Calif., where a custom-designed four-course tasting menu with wine pairings awaited us. With the help of champagne, the conversation kicked off with talk of Comic-Con, which Judge said was filled with "very likable nerds."

Speaking of nerds ...

I am one for taking this picture. Yes, I was seated next to Mike Judge. Okay, my name is misspelled, but still -- Mike Judge!

Our humble director probably caught on »

Topher Grace Is No Longer Venom

20 December 2009 3:41 PM, PST | MovieWeb | See recent MovieWeb news »

Topher Grace is no longer Venom Fans of the popular Spider-Man comics' villain, Venom, were excited when they heard that he would be one of the antagonists in Spider-Man 3 but the luke-warm reaction from fans after the movie was released left much doubt that the character would ever be seen on celluloid again. However, much to everyone's surprise, Marvel Studios founder Avi Arad announced in summer of 2007 that a spin-off featuring the character was in the works. Writer Jacob Aaron Estes was first commissioned to draft a script but after the studio rejected it, Zombieland writers Paul Wernick and Rhett Reese were brought on to write the screenplay. Wernick and Reese turned in two drafts of their script and the studio decided to push forward by bringing in Seabiscuit writer/director Gary Ross to do a rewrite and possibly direct the film. But the obvious question still remains, will Topher Grace, »

18 December 2009 3:30 PM, PST | MTV Movies Blog | See recent MTV Movies Blog news »

This was a rough week for memorial tweets, with Tisha Taylor Murphy and Roy Disney's passings both making headlines. More condolences showed up today for "Alien" screenwriter Dan O'Bannon and Bengals wide received Chris Henry, who both had their share of fans in our feed.

Following up on Jason Reitman's Olympic Torch tweets from the week, posted a much better photo today and got some moral support from Roger Ebert. You can check that out below, along with a shot of "New Moon" actor Alex Meraz's new t-shirt, two actresses who are not ashamed of their Wiis. It's all retweeted in the Twitter-Wood report for December 18, 2009.

A little over three weeks ago, no one knew who they were. Now MTV's "Jersey Shore" stars Nicole "Snooki" Polizzi and Mike "The Situation" Sorrentino are being whisked out to L.A. to appear on "The Tonight Show," hobnobbing with the glitterati at only-VIPs-need-apply clubs and watching with stunned approval as their nicknames have entered the pop-culture lexicon.

As Snooki and the Situation explained when they stopped by the MTV News offices, celebs have been raving about the show. Who? Ashton Kutcher, for one.

"He told me he never watched TV, he never even watches his own show, 'That '70s Show,' but he was like, 'I watch your show,' " Snooki said. "He's like, »

How Ashton Kutcher is pioneering a new kind of media business, bridging Hollywood, technology, and Madison Avenue. Really.

I've walked into the middle of a swine flu outbreak.

"Here, put this on!" Ashton Kutcher bounds from around the corner in his loft-style Hollywood office, wearing a paper face mask and holding another one. The Mark Brazill comedy is not moving forward at Fox.

The network opted not to proceed with a production order for the multicamera project, which originally was picked up as a cast-contingent pilot.

The untitled comedy, formerly "The Rednecks & Romeos," is a coming-of-age ensemble in the vein of "That '70s Show," which Brazill co-created.

A Naked 'Twilight' Actress's New Moon And 'Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2' In Today's Twitter-Wood

9 November 2009 3:00 PM, PST | MTV Movies Blog | See recent MTV Movies Blog news »

When "Twilight" cast members began tweeting about subjects involving missing clothing, I definitely did not expect to log on to Twitter today and find out that Christian Serratos decided to outdo all of them, but but her new garment-less PETA ad definitely succeeded.

Dane Cook and Ice-t, meanwhile, were less focused on saving fur and more intent on playing "Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2" this weekend, according to their posts, and at least one of them found himself in possession of some nightvision goggles. Check all of that out after the jump along with Danny Masterson's criticism for Andre Agassi, "Toy Story 3" director Lee Unkrich's favorite childhood toy and much more. I'm @brianwarmoth and this is the Twitter-Wood report for November 9, 2009.

We last told you about Creepshow: Raw over a year ago. Is it just another excuse for Taurus Entertainment to cash in on the good name of yet another Romero helmed franchise? Or could there be something to this? The first episode is available now. Judge for yourselves.

Watch the eight-minute entry starring Michael Madsen and directed by "That '70s Show"'s Wilmer Valderrama below. Now if you'll excuse me, I'm off to slam my dick in my front door until it looks like a sliver of thinly sliced veal.

Hollywood's latest hookup is Topher Grace and Katie Cassidy. The film stars have ignited dating rumor after they are reported enjoying numerous dinner dates following their first meeting at a friend's Hollywood party in August.

A source tells National Enquirer to have witnessed the apparent lovers getting cozy during an outing. "They could not keep their hands off each other. They sat side by side and were inseparable. Topher kept kissing Katie and rubbing her shoulders. He looked in love," claims the source.

Neither Topher nor Katie has addressed the dating report though.

Tracy Morgan Joins The Twitter Craze As Miley Cyrus Goes Offline In Today's Twitter-Wood

8 October 2009 3:30 PM, PDT | MTV Movies Blog | See recent MTV Movies Blog news »

The nice thing about Twitter-stalking celebrities is that under most circumstances there is no danger of injury or harm to personal property, which is more than can be said of Christian Serratos' mother's car today, according the "Twilight" star's tweets.

And while danger may not have been a factor, Miley Cyrus seems to have decided that Twitter is no longer the place for her, according to her final tweet before closing her account. I will personally miss the pictures or her mullet-wigged, surgical masked father, in addition to all of her meditative wisdom, and wish her well offline. Sarah Silverman, Ice-t and Jessica Simpson are all still online though. Believe or not, they all posted pics over the last 24 hours, and Silverman's is easily the least bizarre. Oh, and let's also take a moment to welcome Tracy Morgan to the Twitter community. He greets us with an ominous message, »

Monty Python, Thom Yorke And Miley Cyrus As Pocahontas In Today's Twitter-Wood

5 October 2009 4:30 PM, PDT | MTV Movies Blog | See recent MTV Movies Blog news »

There was a lot to catch up on in Twitter-Wood today after my long weekend, including the 40th anniversary of Monty Python's first appearance on television, which member John Cleese and fan Edgar Wright both noted. Elsewhere, Edward Norton and Danny Masterson had good things to tweet about Radiohead frontman Thom Yorke's live solo performance, and Miley Cyrus and Ashley Tisdale joined Paris Hilton among those tweeting their Halloween costume plans for 2009.

There is loads more to check out, though, believe it or not, as James Gunn tweeted a pic of himself offering juice to a horse that may belong to Rainn Wilson and Jeremy Piven posted a behind-the-scene shot of Matt Damon from "Entourage." I can't even summarize it all today, I retweeted so many people. I'm @brianwarmoth, and this is your Twitter-Wood report for October 5, 2009.
