Washington, Dec. 7: 'The King of Queens' star Leah Remini, who left Church of scientology this year, has wished Kirstie Alley well, even after being an anti-faith "bigot".

When TMZ.com asked Remini about Alley's recent Howard Stern interview, where she referred to the 43-year-old actress as her enemy, she said that she wishes the best for people even if they hate her back.

Alley had claimed that Remini picks on Scientologists for no reason following her exit from the controversial church. (Ani) »

Producer Nicky Weinstock Joins Lionsgate to Spearhead 10/90 Shows (Exclusive)

4 November 2013 9:43 AM, PST | Variety - TV News | See recent Variety - TV News news »

Lionsgate TV and Debmar-Mercury have recruited producer Nicky Weinstock to oversee creative development of comedies produced using its innovative “10/90″ deal template.

Lionsgate TV topper Kevin Beggs is bringing in an exec to specifically focus on its 10/90 shows as the slate of comedies produced on the accelerated timetable is growing. The format was pioneered by Debmar-Mercury, the autonomous syndication company owned by Lionsgate and headed by Mort Marcus and Ira Bernstein, to ensure that successful comedies reached the off-market — and thus profitability — at a quicker pace than traditional network comedies.

Weinstock will focus on development of multiple existing 10/90 projects and recruiting talent for prospective new series.

”I’m hugely excited to dive back into the world of multicamera sitcoms and to team with companies as innovative as Lionsgate and Debmar-Mercury,” Weinstock told Variety. “A venture as intelligent as the 10/90 model makes this a rare combination of fun and smart.”

Kevin James returning to television

2 October 2013 2:05 PM, PDT | Flickeringmyth | See recent Flickeringmyth news »

After having a recent run of successful hits at the box office it looks like Kevin James will be returning to television. He is the latest star who will be trying out a 10/90 model, where a show shoots 10 episodes and if they are successful then it instantly gets 90 more ordered.

James is no stranger to TV as he was the star of the hit CBS sitcom The King of Queens which ran for 9 seasons. Since that show ended James has been in quite a few major films, most of them having Adam Sandler involved. While none of his films has been critical hits they have mostly seen lots of success with audiences so it seems a little odd that he would want to return to TV.

There is no word yet on what the show will be about but as long as the first 10 episodes do well then it won »

Kevin James is coming back to sitcoms

2 October 2013 2:00 PM, PDT | avclub.com | See recent The AV Club news »

Kevin James is making his way back to TV. The King Of Queens star has signed a deal with Lionsgate that will result in an as-yet-undeveloped multi-camera TV project for James. While the premise is vague, the particulars of the deal are pretty solid: Variety reports that the show has a “10/90 format,” which means that if the first 10 episodes of the sitcom meet some predetermined ratings target, 90 more will be quickly made, promptly and presumably sending the show into the lucrative syndication market. Lionsgate has previously employed the 10/90 model for Charlie Sheen’s Anger »

Kevin James To Topline 10/90 Comedy Series For Lionsgate & Debmar-Mercury

1 October 2013 5:06 PM, PDT | Deadline TV | See recent Deadline TV news »

Exclusive: The King of Queens star Kevin James is returning to his sitcom roots. I’ve learned that as part of the overall film and TV deal James just signed with Lionsgate, he will star in and executive produce a multi-camera comedy under the 10/90 model crafted by the Lionsgate-owned Debmar-Mercury. Under the template, Lionsgate and Debmar-Mercury sell sitcoms to mostly cable networks with an initial 10-episode straight-to-series order, which, if a ratings target is met, triggers a 90-episode back order that allows the sitcom to quickly amass enough episodes for its launch in broadcast syndication. Debmar-Mercury introduced the 10/90 model with Tyler Perry’s House Of Payne followed by Perry’s Meet The Browns and Ice Cube’s Are We There Yet? — all on TBS. In the model’s second incarnation, Lionsgate and Debmar-Mercury have been building comedies around proven sitcom stars including Charlie Sheen, the lead of Anger Management, now »

Kevin James Signs Development Deal With Lionsgate

1 October 2013 4:28 PM, PDT | Variety - Film News | See recent Variety - Film News news »

Lionsgate has signed a development deal with Kevin James for movie and TV projects in which James will star and produce — though he will continue to have a first-look feature film development deal at Sony.

The first project under the new deal calls for James to star in and executive produce a multi-camera comedy series with an initial 10 episodes. Lionsgate TV is producing under distrib Debmar-Mercury’s “10/90″ format that calls for accelerated production of 100 episodes if the 10-episode run hits predetermined ratings targets.

Lionsgate has employed the “10/90″ model for “Anger Management,” starring Charlie Sheen, and on “Saint George,” starring George Lopez.

James, who has never done a Lionsgate movie, launched his movie career at Sony with “Hitch” and has also starred in Sony’s  “Grown Ups” films, “Paul Blart: Mall Cop” and “Here Comes the Boom.” The movie development portion of his new pact is a  second-look deal.

Leah Remini was in the news even before she was announced as a contestant on "Dancing with the Stars" Season 17. Having left Scientology -- in an extremely public manner -- this former star of "The King of Queens" was set for a move to dancing glory.

Now partnered with veteran pro dancer Tony Dovolani, Remini has started rehearsals and is getting ready to hit the ballroom stage. How has it been for her? The actress was a guest on "The Ellen DeGeneres Show" on Friday (Sept. 6) to talk about dancing and other parts of her life.

What did Remini have to say? Watch the video above or check out the brief transcript below. It's safe to say that the actress is finding ballroom dancing to be a bit of a challenge.

'Dancing with the Stars': Bill Nye, 'Saved by the Bell' to bring the '90s kids?

5 September 2013 3:26 PM, PDT | Zap2It - From Inside the Box | See recent Zap2It - From Inside the Box news »

"Dancing with the Stars" Season 17 represents a big change. Getting Bill Nye the Science Guy plus a couple of "Saved by the Bell" alums is a potentially genius move.

This isn't just because the show is dropping from two nights per week to a single Monday show. It has nothing to do with bringing in teenagers or those who will be inspired by Valerie Harper's participation despite a terminal cancer diagnosis.

The change we can expect involves the '90s kids.

Over the past couple of years, nostalgia for the 1990s has supplanted 1980s love in the realm of pop culture. Shows from Nickelodeon's pre-teen heyday have come back to television. Boy bands reunite to great acclaim. Magazines and online sites report every career move made by anyone who ever starred on "Saved by the Bell."

It only makes sense that "Dancing with the Stars" has caught on to the trend. »
