Storyline

In the opening gambit, Mac must retrieve a top-secret pentagon rocket which crashed in Central Asia on a desolate, barren rock mountain and is already guarded by hostile soldiers. Mac's mountaineering, engineering and flying skills are put to good, daring and ingenious use... In the main story, Mac's scientist friend Gantner calls a big favor: an explosion in his top-secret science lab has trapped a group of researchers and caused a leak of extremely corrosive acid which will take only hours to contaminate the water in several US states, so the whole lab will be destroyed using an even worse counter-agent, regardless of the trapped people, unless Mac can stop the leakage and pass the good news. First Mac must get past a laser security system, for him simpler then a smoke-screen. When he is trough one scientist refuses to be evacuated, she helps him get to her research partner trapped in a cave-in. Goofs

Pure sodium is extremely reactive to oxygen. As soon as MacGyver opened the canister it should have begun reacting. What's more, it would have been stored covered in some kind of viscous oil, in order to keep any oxygen from reaching it and setting it off. In addition, the few grams that Mac used would not have been enough to have caused that big of an explosion. See more »

Quotes

[first lines]
MacGyver: [voice-over narration] It's funny, you know, the kind of stuff that pops into your head when you're trying to work. I remember there was this horse... a golden palomino. Ol' Man McGinny had got him in a trade, I think. I couldn't of been much more than nine or ten, at the time, but I made up my mind I was going to ride that horse. Course, knowing Ol' Man McGinny, that was going to take some doing.

Nifty Tricks In Tight Spots.
24 February 2005 | by (Malaysia) – See all my reviews

Like a true child of the mid 80s, I was glued to the television every week as early as 7 years-old, when MacGyver hit the shores in Malaysia. He didn't have the fancy gadgetry nor the suave ways to shimmy out of trouble most of the time and he did get into a *lot* of trouble.

What he did have most of the time was air and scrap wires and it suddenly they were the handiest tools ever. The man single-handedly popularised the trend of using coat hangers to get out of anything.

The cheesy 80s theme music was the perfect lid on the pot of the most inventive TV show ever.

It invented cool and if I could get one bit of my childhood back, it would most definitely be every Tuesdays at 8pm in front of the TV.
