Will Smith & Son In Shyamalan’s ‘After Earth’ Trailer

10 December 2012 11:00 AM, PST | The Hollywood News | See recent The Hollywood News news »

There was a time, I assure you, when word of a new M. Night Shyamalan film filled people with excitement. I’m still a lover of The Sixth Sense, Unbreakable and Signs. However, those days are long gone and you wonder how the man still gets work. Teaming up with box-office sure thing Will Smith can’t possibly hurt, and he’s bringing along his son too. Not to mention putting on a new voice. Smith will play Cypher, a legendary pilot who becomes stranded on Earth a thousand years after humans left. Being injured, Cypher must trust his son Kitai (Jaden Smith), to go on a perilous journey.

There’s a lot that could work about this film. The bond between father and son could be played out very well, as could Kitai’s journey from boy to man. The CGI looks good and this is the first film »

First up, director Rob Minkoff — best known as the director of The Lion King and Stuart Little – presented his film Mr. Peabody & Sherman, a 3D re-imagining of the segments of the same name from the 1960s animated classic Rocky & Bullwinkle. Mr. Peabody is the world’s smartest talking dog who, along with his adopted human Sherman, travels through time in a machine he calls the Wabac. The pair travel to famous historic places and meet famous historic people first hand, getting in adventures along the way.

Acclaimed actor Hugh Laurie is an absolute jewel in the encrusted crown that is the British film industry, and has starred in countless roles in films, television and theatre both sides of the pond, not to mention his more recent music career where he adds yet another string to his bow! Now, you can catch him starring as David Walling in The Oranges, in UK and Irish cinemas from 7th December.

The Oranges tells the story of two families; the Walling’s and the Ostroff’s who are thrust in to a moral dilemma when the eldest Ostroff daughter Nina (Leighton Meester) embarks on an affair with patriarch of the Walling household David (Laurie), old enough to be her father. This quirky, off-beat comedy also stars Hollywood favourites Catherine Keener and Oliver Platt, and sheckshy heart-throb Adam Brody.

Blu-ray Review - Short Circuit (1986)

19 November 2012 3:00 AM, PST | Flickeringmyth | See recent Flickeringmyth news »

Short Circuit, 1986.

Directed by John Badham.

Starring Ally Sheedy, Steve Guttenberg, Fisher Stevens, Austin Pendleton, G.W. Bailey, Brian McNamara and Tim Blaney.

Synopsis:

An experimental military robot becomes sentient after being struck by lightning and befriends a young woman, who attempts to help him from being recaptured by the army.

Let's take a trip back to a simpler, more civilized age - the 1980s, where military robots enjoyed nothing better than settling down in front of the TV to watch old Marx Brothers movies or busting out some John Travolta dance moves to Saturday Night Fever, as opposed to obliterating humanity and taking over the world. Well, that's not quite true of course (one only needs to look at The Terminator for evidence of that), but it's certainly the case when it comes Number 5, the protagonist of director John Badham's (the aforementioned Saturday Night Fever) 1986 smash hit sci-fi comedy Short Circuit, »

Waterman to Remake The Brave Little Toaster as a CGI/Live Action

Waterman Entertainment have picked up the film rights to Thomas Disch’s 1980 novel ‘The Brave Little Toaster’ with plans to turn it into a CGI/live-action hybrid feature, rather than just animation.

That would certainly bring back our toaster, vacuum cleaner, lamp and blanket in their own adventures. Also they will be adding in new technology to the diverse crew of appliances, including an iPhone.

Producer Steve Waterman credits include Casper, Stuart Little duology and Alvin and the Chipmunks trilogy.

I’m feeling pretty eeeeehhhhhhh about a remake, but we’ll see how it turns out.

In addition, Waterman Entertainment has also optioned the 1960 a Born Free to tell the story from the perspective of Elsa the Lioness.
