Win Passes To The Advance Screening Of Suicide Squad In St. Louis

27 July 2016 8:25 AM, PDT | WeAreMovieGeeks.com | See recent WeAreMovieGeeks.com news »

From director David Ayer comes Suicide Squad, starring Oscar nominee Will Smith, Oscar winner Jared Leto, Margot Robbie, Joel Kinnaman and Oscar nominee Viola Davis.

It feels good to be bad… Assemble a team of the world’s most dangerous, incarcerated Super-Villains, provide them with the most powerful arsenal at the government’s disposal, and send them off on a mission to defeat an enigmatic, insuperable entity. U.S. intelligence officer Amanda Waller has determined only a secretly convened group of disparate, despicable individuals with next to nothing to lose will do. However, once they realize they weren’t picked to succeed but chosen for their patent culpability when they inevitably fail, will the Suicide Squad resolve to die trying, or decide it’s every man for himself?

Written and directed by Ayer based on the characters from DC, the film also stars Jai Courtney, Jay Hernandez, Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje, Ike Barinholtz, »

Does the new ‘Finding Dory’ trailer feature Disney-Pixar’s first lesbian couple?

24 May 2016 10:51 AM, PDT | Hitfix | See recent Hitfix news »

A new trailer for Finding Dory dropped today. While there’s plenty to squee over (baby Dory! Octopus antics! Peter Gabriel paired with Pixar yet again!), what the Internet is slowly starting to notice and get excited over is the two characters who just might be Pixar’s first lesbian couple. As Twitter user @DLthings pointed out, the two women outside the Marine Life Institute in the trailer might hold this distinction. Here they are: They appear shortly after the one-minute mark in the trailer released this morning: This comes a few days after a petition to give Frozen’s Elsa a girlfriend made the rounds online. (Elsa herself a.k.a. Idina Menzel responded, “I think it’s great.”) There has been speculation before that Pixar had given audiences a lesbian character, Brave’s Merida being a notable instance of such theories. (Because if a princess prefers honing her »

Ghostbusters: Why is everyone insane?

19 May 2016 5:33 PM, PDT | Hitfix | See recent Hitfix news »

When the news of the Ghostbusters reboot broke, I worked at a company that has a notoriously terrifying comments section; in the entire history of my time there only one article required that comments be shut down: the announcement of an all female Ghostbusters. Contained within that comment section were some of the most violent assassinations of the female gender that I’ve ever seen. No one could have predicted the firestorm that would haunt this film. On the surface, Ghostbusters is merely a new addition to an old franchise that general audiences may -- or may not -- be familiar with. So how has this little comedy ignited an international firestorm? I was one of those not much interested in a reboot, remake, or sequel in the franchise. Dan Aykroyd had been teasing the prospect for so many years that eventually it felt best to just leave well enough »

Rob Bredow Promoted to Chief Technology Officer of Lucasfilm

17 March 2016 2:13 PM, PDT | Variety - Film News | See recent Variety - Film News news »

Rob Bredow has been promoted to chief technology officer of Lucasfilm.

Bredow has long been one of the most respected technologists in Hollywood. He was a visual effects supervisor and chief technology officer at Sony Pictures Imageworks before ankling for Lucasfilm’s Industrial Light & Magic in 2014, with the title of vfx supervisor. Within months of the move, he was appointed VP of new media and head of the studio’s Advanced Development Group.  In this role, Bredow assisted in the launch of Lucasfilm’s R&D unit ILMxLab, which introduced a “Star Wars” Virtual Reality experience to a group of reporters in San Francisco earlier this week.

In assuming this new role, Bredow says he is striving to uphold Lucasfilm’s signature innovative spirit, and do so in a way that prioritizes storytelling.

“We’re not about technology for technology,” the vfx vet told Variety.  “It’s really about creating experiences, »
