From his modest start in that ramshackle cabin in the woods what must seem like a lifetime ago, Sam Raimi has become one of the more versatile and beloved directors in Hollywood. With Scream Factory's Blu-ray release of Darkman today, we bring you our Top 9 Sam Raimi Films - Horror and Otherwise.
We're going to keep this list to films directed by Raimi. If we were to include the movies he's acted in, or god forbid produced, we'd be here all night. But a few of his production credits like 30 Days of Night, both of The Grudge films, Boogeyman, The Possession, Timecop and of course the Evil Dead remake are noteworthy.
Some honorable directorial mentions include his most recent, Oz the Great and Powerful. It might not have been the epic it was billed to be, but it looked fantastic; and when you manage to haul in half a billion »

Ravenswood's uneven first season has drawn to a close, with plenty of lessons to be learnt should season two come along...

1.10 My Haunted Heart
In the season finale of Ravenswood, Caleb's ex-girlfriend Hanna comes to town at precisely the worst moment, Luke and Olivia finally learn who killed their father, and Abaddon comes to collect his due.
First and foremost, I need this show to stop breaking my heart immediately. When Hanna arrives to visit Caleb, he finally has to come clean about Miranda being dead but not gone. Hanna doesn't quite believe him, but she does know two things: 1) She liked Miranda and is sad she's gone and 2) she's grateful that Caleb survived the car accident.
She visits the graveyard alone in order to put flowers on Miranda's grave before heading into the funeral parlour to have a one-person »

Ravenswood's penultimate episode is a characteristic combination of creepiness and laughs. Here's Kaci's review...
This review contains spoilers.
In this week's episode of Ravenswood, it's topsy turvy day as Caleb Rivers is the only one in school.
It's Caleb's first day at Ravenswood High, where he immediately alienates pretty much everyone by constantly chatting with Miranda — you know, the ghost who none of the other students can see. A few of the girls make fun of him and tell him his last school must've been an institution, to which Caleb laughs and informs them that he's actually the only person in all of Pennsylvania who hasn't spent some time in Radley, so they really should get their stories straight.
After History, Creepy Teacher makes sure to warn Caleb about Creepy Uncle's Creepy Chapel of Secrets because in case Caleb »
In last week's episode, Remy's stay at a sleep clinic helped her get in touch with the preacher-who-must-not-be-named who haunts her dreams. But when said preacher tried to keep her trapped in a dream state, Miranda had to go in and save her. Meanwhile, Springer told Olivia that everything he did to hurt her family, he did because Dillon made him. And Caleb tried to learn more about the town's history via a book on the subject, but the only copy he could find was in the possession of the high school's history teacher.
In this week's episode, "Along Came a Spider," Luke and Remy try to find proof of Dillon's shadiness, just as Dillon returns to town. And Caleb's first day of school gives Caleb and Miranda a lead on the pact that has seemingly sealed their fate. Read on to find out if Ravenswood continues to keep us guessing. »
Above, Olivia confronts Dillon (guest star Luke Benward) about why he disappeared on her after she gave up her V card, as she is understandably very angry with him. Dillon claims his parents found condoms in his room and shipped him off to Bible camp to get "the devil" shaken out of him. Nice choice of words, Satan's minion. We're on to you, Dawson Leery hair and all.
Below, it seems Caleb has discovered that Uncle Collins has another hidey-hole. This one's in a chapel and he and Miranda are going to investigate. That should be fine and not all scary, we bet.
• 2014 in film preview: sequels
Prepare yourself for the attack of the colons. A week ago, Paranormal Activity: The Marked Ones came to a cinema near you, and in 2014 you can look forward to Jack Ryan: Shadow Recruit, Captain America: The Winter Soldier, 300: Rise of an Empire, X-Men: Days of Future Past, Transformers: Age of Extinction, Sin City: A Dame to Kill For, Nativity 3: Dude, Where's My Donkey?, The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 1, The Hobbit: There and Back Again – all of them episodes in ongoing franchises, and all of them with a colon in the middle of the title.
If that weren't dizzying enough, there are three more films released in January alone that use a colon, but which aren't part of a series. »
