• Continuity: Keaty explains the rules of cricket and asks if anyone still doesn't understand. Richard and Étienne both raise their left hands. The camera angle changes; when Richard is shown again, he is raising his right arm instead.
  
  
• Continuity: The tattoo on Richard's arm disappears in several shots after the tattoo is given. It's there, then gone, then reappears.
  
  
• Continuity: At the end when the gun is brandished and then fired it is again shown right after firing and the hammer is in the cocked position. If it had just been fired it would not be cocked.
  
  

• Continuity: When Frani?oise jumps from a cliff, she appears to be wearing a white undergarment/bikini bottom underneath her long shirt. In later shots, she is wearing a black bikini underneath the same shirt.
  
  
• Continuity: In the scene when Richard is attacked by a shark, the snorkel he is wearing disappears and re-appears many times.
  
  
• Audio/visual unsynchronized: When Sal says "come with me" to Richard after waking him from his nightmare, her lips only move once.
  
  
• Continuity: When Richard and Francoise swim out to the glowing plankton and start kissing they are in deep water, when they rise to the surface they are able to stand.
  
  
• Continuity: After the shark attack there is a large trail of blood on the beach.... then all of a sudden it's pure white again.
  
  
• Continuity: When Richard, Francoise and Etienne look over to the island judging its distance, the sunlight changes between long shots and close-ups.
  
  
• Continuity: During their stroll on the beach, Francoise and Richard walk along the water with Francoise on the shore side; yet in a close-up of her, the water is behind her. And again in the next shot Francoise and Richard are both standing knee-deep in the water, although they haven't been moving for quite a while.
  
  
• Continuity: The handwriting on the virtual postcard near the end of the movie changes style between wide shots and close-ups.
  
  
• Revealing mistakes: The picture used for the virtual postcard near the end of the movie is not the same picture taken back at the beach, because some of the minor and main characters have changed positions and/or struck a different pose.
  
  
• Continuity: The fish Richard catches in the water with his spear is rather big and has no stripes, but when he raises his spear in the air and screams, the fish is relatively smaller and has stripes.
