Eskay Harris Films produced this film in an attempt to capitalize on Vitagraph's planned production of Black Beauty, based on the Anna Sewell novel. They re-edited the existing film Your Obedient Servant with added footage and released it under the same title "Black Beauty". Vitagraph complained to the Federal Trade Commission, but not in time.
