Dora, a sad and lonely girl, suffers a terrifying experience during her first evening in the countryside. It opens her eyes to something new and leads her to start life afresh - at Follyfoot.
Season 1, Episode 2: Steve5 July 1971
Steve has been unfairly sacked from the Squire's stables, and Dora feels certain he didn't do when he's accused of. She leads him to Follyfoot, along with the first horse in what the Colonel comes to "the Dora collection", but he discovers that even Follyfoot is not as safe as he thought.
Season 1, Episode 3: Gypsy12 July 1971
Two superstitious farmers who beat a gypsy's horse, and the gypsy seeks to get revenge. Dora's tries to help but ends up making the situation worse, so Steve has to disguise himself before he can add to the Dora collection.
Season 1, Episode 4: Shadow19 July 1971
Dora is the only one who can get an expensive and valuable steeplechaser, Shadow, refuses to jump. This leads Ron Stryker to succeed in persuading his shady friend Lewis to take part in a plan to make money, but he has to persuade Shadow to help for his plan to work.

Slugger calls Charley the oldest horse in the world, and Charley the pit pony is definitely on his last legs. His elderly owner sets out to find him but doesn't realize that it's a race against time, nor do Steve and Dora who have problems of their own.

The elder brother of a young boy named Gip has taken over their deceased father's timber business and wants to expand. He decides the horses are too old and wants to send them Follyfoot to retire, but Gip says no. A local newspaper runs a story on about Gip and his horse Willie, trying to do him a favour - but events take an unexpected turn, especially when Ron Stryker has anything to do with it.

Marty is in danger of death, and young Gip believes he knows all about the care of horses. Can Steve persuade Gip that he is wrong?
Season 1, Episode 8: Moonstone16 August 1971
After a visit to the circus with her mother, Follyfoot helper Callie decides one of the circus horses is badly treated and steals it. She persuades Steve to help hide the horse in the shed by the lake, but Steve is worried about the consequences of being found out.

Ron's attempt to rescue the horse of a rag'n'bone man who is taken ill causes confusion all round, particularly when Gip sees Ron take the horse. Meanwhile Dora and Steve are concerned about a horse that refuses to eat.

At Follyfoot a stray man just sits in the field with the horse, and Dora can't understand why the Colonel isn't concerned about it. Meanwhile tensions flare between Steve and Ron, but will it come to blows?

When Dora sees a local girl, Ginny, dismount from her perfectly stationary horse into a wheelchair, she decides to trains a horse to stand still, Slugger thinks it's for a circus act - but the purpose is much more serious than that.

Dora tried to keep her birthday a secret, but Steve and Ron both want to surprise her once they find out. Will it lead to another fight, of will the wind be taken out of their sails?

Steve notices an article in a newspaper which he thinks may be about his mother, and he is given the weekend off to see his Grandmother - what she tells him means an unexpected turn of events for Dora, who is already upset about a horse that is dying.

There is always someone somewhere who cares - or so Steve, searching for his mother in Liverpool, and Dora, searching for the owner of a horse, believe. They could both be wrong.
Season 2, Episode 2: The Debt4 June 1972
Dora thought Arthur Wimble was a nice old man, and he is, in spite of the problem he creates. Steve has an even greater problem to face - and a debt to pay.

Cleo, a friend from Dora's school, was the best rider in their school and was the envy of all the other girls for her skills at Show Jumping. Now she arrives at Follyfoot and is terrified of horses, saying she will never ride again, much to Dora is puzzlement.

Steve rescues a thoroughbred horse from behind a blazing cottage, which he takes it to Follyfoot and starts a string of events including being accused of theft by the police.
2 July 1972
When Dora is told that miners at the local coal pit are on strike and that they have left their pit ponies below, she decides to interfere despite being warned not to intensify a delicate situation, but Dora can't stand by and do nothing.
9 July 1972
Tim Shaw's the son of a traveling fair owner tells Dora his horse is special - "It won the Grand national and you can't be more special than that" he tells her. No one believes him, and Follyfoot can't look after the horse, so will it end up getting shot by Tim's father.

The collection of horses is growing at Follyfoot, much to Steve's concern. Therefore the Colonel decides to sell one of the horses, but he runs into violent opposition from Dora, who thinks the problem is a simple one to solve, but is she mistaken?
Season 2, Episode 8: The Prize23 July 1972
Steve is understandably eager to give riding lessons to the lovely, but when Dora seems unhappy he assumes it is because of Kalinka's eye trouble, as he keeps saying, "she's interested only in the horses".
30 July 1972
When Dora is told to collect a horse from mysterious Derwent House, she is told to "Make sure that you use the left-handed gate or there'll be terrible trouble". Dora soon finds out why.
6 August 1972
The Colonel tells Dora she is to leave Copper at Carne Manor, the home of an old friend of his. Steve tries to persuade Dora she has nothing to worry about, but will events prove him wrong.
13 August 1972
Callie wants somewhere to stable her horse Magic, any old shed will do, but the Colonel refuses. Dora and Steve go with Callie to see Magic, when they discover a neighbor's horse, Ladybird, who is in such poor condition that Dora is appalled and horrified by what she sees. Steve tries to help but nearly comes to blows with the owner.
20 August 1972
Stryker teases Dora that the Colonel has plans to marry her off to Lord Beck, as she finds him arrogant. Steve tells Beck he wouldn't beat Dora in a race and a challenge is set for the forthcoming 'Fairfield Show', which pleases the Colonel who wants to take Beck down a peg or two.
27 August 1972
The Colonel is seriously ill and Dora's parents return from Brazil to take her away to their London home. Is her stay at Follyfoot is coming to an end.
23 June 1973
The Colonel makes Dora the "mistress of Follyfoot", but she soon finds that running Follyfoot is quite different to just living and working there. Steve seems unwilling to help, and when the milk-horse Tansy refuses to eat, her problems are only just beginning.

Dora tries to make a deal with Clem Barrett to exchange Domino with Hercules, but he asks for ten pounds in compensation. Slugger is about to give Dora the money when Steve sticks his oar in.
Season 3, Episode 3: Barney7 July 1973
The Buckley's buy their daughter a horse but they haven't a clue about horses and Barney turns out to be untrained. They gladly allow Dora to take Barney off their hands and tame him, however once he's been tamed they want him back.

Dora agrees to hide Bobby for a few days, but it results in unexpected repercussions for both her and the family she's hiding the horse from.
Season 3, Episode 5: The Dream21 July 1973
Some horses that have been stolen from Lockwood's' stables by men on motorbikes and Dora and Steve hunt for them, then Dora overhears a threat from Mr. Lockwood to get back at those responsible.

The unscrupulous Sam Lockwood challenges Dora to a cross-country race, but he has assumed that all the horses at Follyfoot are old crocks. When he finds that they're not he tries to prevent her from winning.

Hidden deep in the woods, four gypsy horses lay dying. How can Dora help if no-one will tell her where they are.
Season 3, Episode 9: Uncle Joe18 August 1973
When two young children, who go to Follyfoot for riding lessons, are orphaned their only surviving relative is their Uncle Joe. Dora and Steve track down Uncle Joe but Dora is very attracted to him, much to Steve's annoyance.

Dora's is annoyed when Phyllis Wetherby is sent to help her run Follyfoot by the Colonel. Steve seems pleased, but he's the only one.
1 September 1973
It pours with rain all day and tempers run high. In the heat of the moment Dora, Steve and Ron all say things best left unsaid, because some of them are true.

A delinquent child smashes the windows of an expensive car, but can the brutal attack on Copper be connected?

Dora becomes restless and disillusioned and looks to her future, but she also has the futures of those who depend upon her to worry about. It's not only a decision on if she should leave Follyfoot, it's also a question of if she can.
