Life in the magazine business
louiseculmer7 January 2015
Compact was one of the first TV programmes that I can remember watching. A soap opera set in the offices of a women's glossy magazine, the opening credits showed a woman's face on the magazine cover. I can remember very little about the plot or characters, though a few of them have left a vague impression. One very dramatic plot line I can remember was the editor's wife being killed in a car crash while pregnant - they managed to save the baby though 'Ian's got a son' I can remember someone saying. An odd programme for a young child to enjoy, but I did. I would love to watch it again so I could find out whether I still thought it was good, but sadly it seems hardly any episodes survive. A great pity.
