Stupid & boring
lor_8 March 2024
A typically dumb screenplay by Cash Markman makes "Warm Pink" a VHS feature that elicits an automatic "is that all there is?" reaction when it's over.

The story is one-note: Randy West is frustrated since his marriage of only one year's duration is already sexually dead, as beautiful wife Kelly O'Dell doesn't want to sleep with him anymore. Video begins with him enjoying sacktime with prostitute Rebecca Bardoux.

When he gets back home, Kelly has received a dress she ordered, but it's pink and she ordered a blue one. She tells hubby that she hates pink clothing, supposedly a family tradition, but wears it anyway to their dinner date at their friends Tom Byron & Sierra's house.

The beautful country location is a big plus visually for the movie, and at this point the stupid premise is revealed: when Kelly wears the pink dress she loses her inhibitions, it acting like an aphrodisiac. As a result she seduces her pal Sierra, and significantly does not remove the dress during their lesbian sex.

Back home again, still wearing it, she asks hubby to have them watch one of his porn videos together. This allows scripter Markman to indulge in his obligatory stupid references: West comments on how the same players appear in 90% of porn videos and specifies that that star Randy West sleeps with so many different women. Having Randy say this is not even acceptable for a dumb in-joke.

Of course, this is an excuse to insert a random extraneous sex scene, and we get the familiar couple, Woody Long and big tits/big nose (before plastic surgery) Celeste doing their thing. After the movie, Kelly removes her dress, and that brings back her surly personality, not interested in sex with her husband.

Video plods along with Randy making the long drive to Sierra's house to cry on her shoulder and then get cheered up when she almost instantly seduces him. She has an open marriage, and informs him that her hubby Byron is en route to have sex with Kelly as tit for tat for her admitted lesbian sex last night with Sierra.

We see Kelly, in that pink dress of course, humping Byron in her home, and then Randy arriving after the cum shot and getting mad at his friend. Kelly's taken off the dress and is surly again, with an unconvincing gimmick of Randy suddenly figuring out the pink dress is to blame for her mood swings, and concluding he better buy her a pink nightgown. Thus, a perfectly insulting ending from Cash, contemptuous of us woebegotten viewers.

Director Randy West has a particularly poor editing mistake during the final sex scene, as Tom slides off the all-important dress, but after the next cut it's erroneously still on Kelly. If it had actually come off, that would have violated the movie's central premise.
