New Year’s Eve, Warner Bros.’ romantic comedy with a star-studded cast, centers around several different characters who are all determined to make the most of the last day of the year, and, hopefully, to have someone to kiss at midnight. New Year’s Eve stars Ashton Kutcher, Lea Michele, Hilary Swank, Zac Efron, Abigail Breslin, Josh Duhamel, Halle Berry and Katherine Heigl, to name a few. Director Gary Marshall, as the man behind Valentine’s Day, The Princess Diaries, Runaway Bride and Pretty Woman (to name a few), is a seasoned pro at working on romantic comedies and creating that

Review: A Resolution List for 'New Year's Eve' Director Garry Marshall

9 December 2011 12:09 PM, PST | firstshowing.net | See recent FirstShowing.net news »

Dear Mr. Garry Marshall: I know you've had lots of success in the past (Pretty Woman, Runaway Bride, The Princess Diaries). Some of your films are among the most celebrated, romantic comedies in recent film history, but with your latest movie, New Year's Eve, which depicts a dozen stories in New York City all leading up midnight on December 31st, it seems like there might be some wheel spinning going on. So, in honor of the film's premise and with the actual New Years on the very near horizon, please take the time to read over this resolution list, if not for the new year coming up, then for your next film at least. Let's begin. 1. Less Is More Okay, this isn't always the case, but when it comes to intersecting storylines, characters that need all the help they can get when it comes to development, and stunt casting, »

Watch: 'Christmas Day' Parody Targets 'New Year's Eve' Ensemble Cast

6 December 2011 4:30 PM, PST | firstshowing.net | See recent FirstShowing.net news »

While some viewers look forward to seeing dozens of their favorite stars in the ensemble holiday comedy New Year's Eve, some people likely don't realize that the film will only allow the dozens of talents like Lea Michele, Ashton Kutcher, Seth Meyers, Halle Berry and much more to have about 7-minutes of screen time in about a dozen different stories. This parody trailer for a new holiday ensemble comedy called Christmas Day points that out, but dares to boast an even bigger cast including John Cusack, Jennifer Aniston, Robert Pattinson, that kid from Jerry Maguire, Jack Skellington, Stephen Hawking and more! Watch below! Here's the trailer-mash-up parody for Christmas Day courtesy of Funny or Die: New Year's Eve is directed by industry veteran Garry Marshall, of The Flamingo Kid, The Lottery, Pretty Woman, Frankie and Johnny, Runaway Bride, The Princess Diaries, Raising Helen, Georgia Rule and Valentine's Day previously. Leighton Meester a Runaway Bride on Gossip Girl?

When to comes to Gossip Girl, there is always trouble in paradise, is there not? Get ready for some more because Blair Waldorf has got her proverbial running shoes on. I bet they’ll go great with her wedding dress!

Will she? Won’t she? That has been the question when it comes to Blair’s supposed fairy tale nuptials. Acted by Leighton Meester, Blair has been seen in a dramatic still from an upcoming episode of the CW series, running for her life. Is she late and making a mad dash for the altar, or is Blair trying to escape the “I Do”s? Come on, you would run away from Louis of Monaco, too, wouldn’t you? This is much is for certain, it does appear to be her wedding dress that she is wearing in the newsworthy new photo, »

‘The X-Factor,’ Season 1, Episode 13, Top 11 Perform: TV Recap

Fox Astro performs on ‘The X-Factor.’

Another week, another round of performances from the contestants on “The X-Factor,” who are required to perform songs from movies, evidently in honor of Adam Sandler’s latest, “Jack and Jill.” Host Steve Jones continued to struggle to convey he has a personality as he introduced judges Simon Cowell, Paula Abdul, Nicole Scherzinger, and L.A. Reid, who emerged from backstage to the magisterial sounds of the “Star Wars” theme.

The X Factor Recap: Movie Violations

10 November 2011 10:17 AM, PST | TVLine.com | See recent TVLine.com news »

Things I don’t want to see ever again on The X Factor: Two-hour commercials promoting Adam Sandler’s latest “film.” Any/all of the judges channeling Randy Jackson in their critiques; back-critiquing performances they praised in the previous week; trying to take credit for their rival mentors’ successes; and smiling smugly as if it was them, not their contestants, who hit those big-ass notes. Adherence to “theme weeks” that are flimsier than Paula Abdul’s non-electronically enhanced singing voice. Promotion of the idea that a Pepsi commercial is the single greatest signifier of musical success. And Steve Jones giggling the word “whoopsie! »

The X Factor Top 11 Review: The Taste of Crow

9 November 2011 10:32 PM, PST | TVfanatic | See recent TVfanatic news »

It was once again time to face the music, as The X Factor Top 11 hit the stage for Movie Night!

I hope you had your popcorn ready because L.A. Reid continued his stint as the worst new reality judge on television and Steve Jones remained steadfast in cutting off the panelists as many times as he could in a two hour span.

Oh yeah! The 11 acts also performed their hearts out for America's vote!  Let's take a look at the performances...

Stacy Francis "The Queen of the Night" - No Nicole, Stacy having a big diva moment is not her stepping out her element.  The upbeat nature of this song, however, was out of her element, and it proved to be detrimental as she seemed to be out of breath throughout the performance.

My Score: 4/10

Obscure Movie Score: The Bodyguard is way too popular to register in this ranking system. »

'X Factor' Top 11: Rachel Crow, Drew Ryniewicz slay it

9 November 2011 7:07 PM, PST | Zap2It - From Inside the Box | See recent Zap2It - From Inside the Box news »

"The X Factor" is here with the Top 11 and Songs of the Movies. So clearly "X Factor" is not getting too far away from the "Idol" theme-show nights. Also, the product tie-in? "Jack and Jill." Those poor Idols what do we call X Factor contestants? Xies?

1. Stacy Francis, "Queen of the Night," "The Bodyguard"

This ... sounds off to me, almost right from the get-go. Is she sharp? Maybe it's just me, but it sounds off. Plus, she's relying way too heavily on the backup singers. There are times where they are carrying the song and she's just throwing in some ohs. And then she takes to the scaffolding like she's in the "Cold Hearted Snake" video. Hmm. Wow. I really did not like that. I love Stacy Francis, I've totally come around on her and no way should she go home, but I'm not down with tonight.

‘New Year’s Eve’ Trailer #2 Suffers From Celebrity Overload

28 September 2011 9:37 AM, PDT | ScreenRant.com | See recent Screen Rant news »

Remember when Garry Marshall used to direct simple romantic comedies like Pretty Woman, Runaway Bride, or even The Prince Diaries? The actor/producer/director apparently decided a few years ago that having a handful of A-listers in your movie wasn’t enough - resulting in last year’s overflowing-with-stars flick Valentine’s Day and this winter’s overflowing-with-stars flick, New Year’s Eve.

A second trailer for New Year’s Eve has been released - and, seeing how the film is virtually a carbon copy of Valentine’s Day (albeit, it revolves around a different holiday and cast), you probably already know if this is your cup of tea.

The official synopsis for New Year’s Eve pegs it as being a celebration of “love, hope, forgiveness, second chances and fresh starts,” as told through a series of stories about New Yorkers whose lives intertwine over the course ...

Why you can’t have two big movie stars in the same film, and the fall of star power

27 September 2011 9:46 AM, PDT | Den of Geek | See recent Den of Geek news »

One movie star? That’s good. Three or more? Fine. Two? You’re looking at a critical mess, a box office flop, or both. But why? And why is star power in general falling?

Last month, I took a look back at the film of Michael Crichton’s novel, Disclosure. It’s comfortably, for me, the most dated movie of the 1990s, and it’s an oddity of a movie, for a few different reasons.

But the one thought I couldn’t get out of my head when writing it is that this was the last time I can remember when two major movie stars joined together in the same film, and it still worked as a piece of entertainment. More to the point, it worked, and was still successful at the box office.

Since then, I’ve convinced myself to add Face/Off to the list, as both Cage »

Hugh Hefner Tweets: Crystal and I ‘Had Sex on a Weekly Basis’

29 July 2011 2:25 PM, PDT | Hollywoodnews.com | See recent Hollywoodnews.com news »

HollywoodNews.com: Playboy mogul, Hugh Hefner has been the center of much chaos recently, and his former fiancé Crystal has not been making the sudden breakup with the 85-year-old any easier.

Responding to recent accusations made by Crystal on Howard Stern’s radio show, Hef went to his twitter page to set the record straight. Crystal claimed that they only had sex once and that it ‘lasted two-seconds’. Hef tweeted: “For the record, I have sex on a weekly basis, and did throughout my 2-and-a-half years with Crystal.”

Hef went on to state: “My sex life involves more than one partner & has since the end of my marriage in 1998.” Crystal had previously revealed on the ‘Runaway Bride’ special that she realized the lifestyle at the mansion wasn’t for her and needed a way out.

What do you think about the Crystal/Hef situation?

Hugh Hefner: Crystal Harris Lied About Our ‘Two Second’ Sex Life!

Hugh Hefner calls ex-fiancee Crystal Harris a liar and says he feels sorry for her. He also revealed he realizes she never loved him. Poor Hef!

Crystal Harris didn’t stop at leaving Hugh Hefner a day before their wedding, she also insulted him by saying sex with him lasted “two seconds” during the one time she says they slept together. Some nerve. Hef has been a good sport about Crystal, joking about watching Runaway Bride after she dumped him, but now he’s had enough. “Crystal lied about our relationship on Howard Stern but I don’t know why. Maybe a new boyfriend?” tweeted Hef last night, before he removed the message later on.And that’s not the only lie he’s upset about. “Crystal convinced me that she adored me. That was the first lie,” he explained on Twitter.
