Great documentary movie about an interesting character.
9 January 2006 | by (Germany) – See all my reviews

This movie about a professional slot machine gambler, the title is the name of the machine he is specialized on, is an outstanding example of how to do a serious and also very entertaining documentary by just following someones everyday life with camera and microphone. Of course, as you can imagine, making his living by traveling all over Germany and emptying systematically all the slot machines along the way is anything else than what one would call a normal life. So this character the movie is about really is more than interesting enough to catch your attention right from the very first minute. Being done around 1979, the film also provides a nice view on western Germany at that time and takes you back to a country, that doesn't exist anymore like this. But most of all, it is a well-done piece of celluloid ( not a video !!! ) about this special character and the way he lives, giving his protagonist a lot of space and opportunities to talk about his motivations, dreams, problems and so on. Sometimes funny, sometimes more sad, but always with respect to the individuals shown. As far as i know, the movie hasn't been released yet on DVD. Sad but true.
