It's 1955 and curious 14-year-old Bronx kid Lenny has a mission for his summer: to witness two adults in the midst of an "act of love." When his mother sends him to Queens to stay with his pregnant aunt and uncle, Lenny thinks his plan is doomed, until he meets his gorgeous adult neighbor Hedy and hooks up with some like-minded neighborhood kids. Soon, Lenny is learning more than he ever expected about life, love and growing up. Written by
Lenny refers to the comic book "G.I. Joe" when he is almost caught by Heddy when he is hiding in her closet.
The "G.I. Joe" character/toy was introduced in 1964 and the related comic book much later. Since the story was set in the 1950s ~(1953-55), Lenny could NOT be reading G.I Joe comics. See more »
Has anyone ever told you about the birds and the bees?
Yeah, we learned about it in biology. Bees sting and birds crap on your head.

It is refreshing to see a coming of age movie where the boys (and this time the girls) are not portrayed as village idiots. No bodily fluid or slap stick jokes. It is all believable and humorous to watch. Suspense without insult to the viewer's intelligence. I have watched it twice and will watch it again. I guess I can identify with the main character and his learning the facts of life from friends.
