A far cry from Devils Experiment, 25 June 2003

After having viewed the disturbing images of early Guinea Pig's Devils
Experiment and Flowers of Flesh and Blood I approached this chapter
with well deserved trepidation. What I didn't expect was that I'd be
laughing my ass off five minutes into the film.
SOME MINOR SPOILERS
Telling the flimsy story of a transvestite doctor and his/her radical
experiments on her patients DWD is basically an excuse for unleashing a
handful of hilariously gory sequences, from a family whose heads
explode when angry to the story of a loving couple, one of which is
dead via the tale of a woman pursued by a killer 'abandoned internal
organ'. I kid you not.
The FX are bargain basement at best but it's all about the comedy this
time. The exploding heads are straight out of Monty Python while the
rest rings of Troma or early Trey Parker film Cannibal the Musical.
Fans of hardcore horror are often disappointed by this entry in the
series but if you share a slightly warped sense of humour you will get
a good few laughs out of this one.

Fun for the whole family! If thats what you had in mind, please go to a
site more suitable for you such as www.google.ca
This movie is for gore hounds, and you would have to be one to
appreciate it. This movie is the sixth and last of the Za ginipiggu
(Guinea Pig) series, filmed in the style of Guinea Pig 3: He Never
Dies. The movie is a bunch of hilarious scenes where different body
parts will blow up with different people if they get upsetor be
shocked. I do not want to spoil the fun so watch it for yourself.
I would recommend this movie to watch with a bunch of friends. That
way, you can laugh with your friends although some people may not find
it that funny.

Low budget gore humour stupidity. It may be that I'm an idiot but I had a good time, 30 July 2008

First off this doesn't remotely compare to the sadistic sickness or madcap gnarly brutality of other entries in this series. This is a straight up idiotic campy comedy, sort of gory Monty Python style stuff except much dafter. Exploding heads, a flying disembodied stomach and even crazier shenanigans go on here, in a series of sketches about a transvestite doctor with silly hair doing silly things to patients with silly ailments. Some are quite funny, some are nicely gruesome in a cheapo kind of way and one is even bizarrely touching. The effects aren't up to much and its all quite hit and miss. However if your fond of Troma or South Parks dumber moments this is probably for you. I generally had a good time watching this, it passed by quickly and though the campy cheapness shines throughout, only the opening and closing sketches really struck me as being poor effects wise. I laughed frequently, I wouldn't say its hilarious like others have done but it is pretty amusing in a retarded sort of way. Its a shame the Guinea Pig series couldn't have go out with more of a bang, as some of the earlier ones are nastily impressive and this one is a bit stupid, but I enjoyed it overall. Worth watching if your sense of humour extends to the very lowbrow, especially if accompanied by alcohol.

Some pathetic prosthetics and some effects that are well doctored., 30 November 2009

Well, this is certainly the standout oddity in a series not really
lacking in oddity to start with. The fourth of the "guinea pig" movies
is a patchwork comedy more akin to something the Zucker boys would
create if only they threw lots of gore on screen alongside the
scattershot gags.
Do I even bother describing the plot? There's a female doctor
introducing a variety of memorable cases, from the family suffering
from an affliction that sees their heads exploding when angered to a
man with a second face on his stomach to a man that sweats blood and
much more. Yes, it is just as bizarre as it sounds.
Even more bizarre, for me anyway, is how the final main skit feels like
some Asian nausea-inducing riff on the famous "Four Yorkshiremen"
sketch (for the most well-known rendition you have to check out the
Monty Python version) and how it constantly surprises you by becoming
even more infantile when you keep thinking it has already bottomed out.
The worst of the series, though completists will find some of the
effects/gags amusing and there is an undeniable sense of fun about the
whole thing, even through the end credit sequence.
See this if you like: Basket Case, Terror Firmer, The Kentucky Fried
Movie.

The weirdest and the least out of the series., 8 May 2009

All of the Guinea Pig movies are quite pointless ones but this one is a
bit extreme in that sense perhaps. It really lacks a purpose and
instead is an odd pile of different strange and humorous sequences,
mostly involving death and gore. It sometimes work out as entertaining
but more often as just plain odd and truly pointless.
It's a movie that mostly leans on its devil woman doctor, a man a drag
pretending to be a doctor, who is also the binding factor of the entire
movie. Within him the movie would had been a totally disjointed one.
The drag queen still brings some joy to the entire movie but it's
simply not quite good enough to truly uplift the movie and to make it a
fully successful movie.
Because of its more comical and far less serious approach, this movie
is also less extreme with its gore. It also simply goes far too
over-the-top for it to let its gore work out as anything shocking or
realistic. Also when you compare its effects to any of the other
previous entries out of the series, this movie is surely the least.
Even though its far more comical, I just couldn't enjoy watching this
movie as much as I did some of the other entries within the Japanese
Guinea Pig-series.

Far from the best of the "Guinea Pig" series, 14 April 2007

I've always what future "Guinea Pig" films would have looked like had
they continued in the same taboo-breaking vein as "The Devil's
Experiment" and "Flowers of Flesh and Blood". While some of the
subsequent episodes were dark tales of horror, "Devil Woman Doctor"
follows in the same comic footsteps as "He Never Dies". If you imagine
what a Japanese Monty Python show may have looked like, you'll have
some idea of the style of this dubious entry in the series.
Casting political correctness aside, we have a crying baby's head
exploding and an animated, corn-fed poo monster (think of "South
Park"'s Mr. Hankey in "real-life"). With a succession of hit-and-miss
sketches (well, "miss"), this installment seems to last a lot longer
than its 52 minutes.
4 out of 10. I'm almost lost for words. Another "completists only"
title.

so Japanese do slapstick comedy gore too, 5 November 2006

this film is (fortunately) not the first of notorious guinea pig films i had a 'pleasure' to watch. unlike 'mermaid in a manhole', devil doctor is and probably was intended to be a comedy. unfortunately - not a very good one, and to be honest 'a man who never dies' made me more amused, probably because it didn't intend to be funny (and was shorter). devil woman doctor is filled with exaggeration and slapstick humour, it doesn't appear to have any plot or time/place setting. the shots are or not loosely connected with a figure of a Japanese drag queen (supposedly a doctor... and a cleaner). they reminded me of (dont hate me, i didn't mean it this way) Monty python sketches that went bad. the stomach chasing a young girl in a tunnel was certainly the worst part of it, i liked the straightforward conversation of four patients suffering from various diseases and the moving tattoo scene, the opening was quite funny too. 3 out of 10... because i have seen worse.

Another Disappointing Entry in the "Guinea Pig" series, 13 September 2005

If you've read any of my other reviews regarding the "infamous" GUINEA PIG series, you'll notice that I don't have much love for these films. With the exception of HE NEVER DIES, MERMAID IN A MANHOLE, and FLOWER OF FLESH AND BLOOD (none of which are masterpieces in their own right...), the GUINEA PIG series just isn't what it's cracked up to be. DEVIL WOMAN DOCTOR is another fine example of the disappointment I felt after hearing all the hype about this series, then shelling out for the box-set. Luckily I got it pretty cheap... Anyway, DEVIL WOMAN DOCTOR is a horror comedy that revolves around a transvestite doctor doing stupid experiments on patients. There are a few slightly humorous moments, but anyone calling this film "hilarious" must have the comedy sense of a five-year-old. The FX are stupid, it's not that gory or funny, so what are you left with....Not much. This one sucks, plain and simple. Also avoid ANDROID OF NOTRE DAME and DEVIL'S EXPERIMENT - these suck, too. A generous 3/10 for a couple of minor laughs...
