Doughnuts is typical '30s animation for Van Beuren
Doughnuts is another Tom and Jerry (not the cat-and-mouse team but a couple of humans, one tall-Tom and one short-Jerry) from Van Beuren. They're bakers at a food festival. They are preparing some doughnuts for three judges-two male, one female. As they put their batter on the conveyor belt, a drunk standing nearby accidentally puts some of his bottled alcohol in the mix. Results: The judges and the other customers love the doughnuts enough in order to give the duo the trophy! As typical of many of these '30s cartoons, there is some singing and dancing that provides quite entertaining filler for the required six minutes before the big feature afterwards. They sure don't make them like this anymore! Well worth seeing for animation buffs interested in all things '30s or at least the Van Beuren kind.
