Taggart is one of the best police dramas to grace UK screens. 'Fatal Inheritance' was the best 'short' Taggart there ever was. The story was fantastic and everything about the episode just hit the mark. It makes you feel much less at ease than other entries and is a satisfying drama. There is little to complain about, though they do seem to drag it along in some places. The DVD edition of this episode is very good as well.
The basic story is that a doctor is given a 'Not Proved' verdict for the murder of a beautician whom was having an affair with her husband. Jim Taggart is aggravated at the outcome of the doctor's trial and is ordered to take time off work but he's not finished. He wants to see justice done, one way or the other, so he stays at the health resort run by the recently acquitted doctor, but whilst he's there, another similar murder, all too close to home for the doctor, takes place, making Taggart realise the case is much more complex than it originally made itself out to be, leaving Taggart's team with a puzzle to solve.
Overall, an excellent episode and definitely worth seeing.
