Fans don't have to spend the first season worrying whether Nat Geo's Genius TV show will cancelled or renewed for season two. The scripted anthology drama was picked up for a second season about a week ahead of the series' premiere, and it feels like there's a lot riding on it. Although known for nonfictional programming, National Geographic Channel is spreading its wings with partially and fully scripted TV shows like Mars and The Long Road Home, as well as three new projects in development. National Geographic has assembled an all-star cast for its forthcoming miniseries The Long Road Home.

Set to star in the military drama are Michael Kelly (House of Cards), Jason Ritter (Parenthood), Kate Bosworth (Blue Crush), Sarah Wayne Callies (The Walking Dead), Jeremy Sisto (Suburgatory) and Noel Fisher (Shameless), The Hollywood Reporter has learned.
