22 September 2016 6:25 AM, PDT | PEOPLE.com | See recent PEOPLE.com news »

Cheryl Ladd was not prepared to try and replace Farrah Fawcett's leading lady role on Charlie's Angels. In an exclusive clip from Ladd's upcoming feature episode on Oprah: Where Are They Now?, the 65-year-old, who played Kris Munroe on the female-centric series, reveals that she was first asked to replace the late Fawcett. After taking on the singing voice of Melody on the cartoon series Josie and the Pussy Cats, Charlie's Angels producer Aaron Spelling approached Ladd about joining the drama. 8 things we learned about the live-action 'Masters of the Universe' reboot

15 August 2016 3:35 PM, PDT | Hitfix | See recent Hitfix news »

McG, the director of Charlie's Angels and Terminator: Salvation who is currently slated to helm the long-gestating Masters of the Universe live-action movie at Sony, just gave an interview to IGN that features quite a bit of back and forth on the upcoming "reboot" of the iconic '80s animated franchise. MotU earlier spawned a poorly-received live-action film starring Dolph Lundgren and Frank Langella. Stating that he is "laser-focused" on making MotU his next movie, McG revealed quite a bit about the project's development, from casting to setting to how the film will be informed by the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Below are a few highlights from the conversation, which you can read in full over at IGN. 1. Kellan Lutz has not been cast as He-Man. Though Lutz previously revealed via Twitter that he had met with McG on the project, the Legend of Hercules star is so far not attached to play the musclebound protagonist. »

McG Talks He-Man and Rebooting Masters of the Universe

13 August 2016 12:08 PM, PDT | MovieWeb | See recent MovieWeb news »

It sounds like we're getting a lot closer to seeing He-Man return on the big screen in the long-awaited Masters of the Universe reboot. We still have a few years to wait, according to director McG. The man behind such notable hits as Charlie's Angels and Terminator Salvation claims he's ready to make this live-action fantasy adaption of the popular toy and animated series his next movie. But there is still some work to be done.

Masters of the Universe has been sitting in development purgatory for quite some time. There seemed to be some light at the end of the tunnel when it was announced earlier this year that director McG had taken on the task of resuscitating this dormant franchise, which has only ever seen one live-action movie to date, which arrived way back in 1987 and starred Dolph Lundgren and Courtney Cox. Charlie's Angels Reboot Lands A Pulitzer Prize Winner Writer

27 July 2016 1:59 PM, PDT | LatinoReview | See recent LatinoReview news »

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Pulitzer Prize winner David Auburn is talks with Sony Pictures to write the screenplay for the movie reboot of Charlie's Angels. Auburn is writing a new script for Charlie's Angels, after Evan Spiliotopoulos wrote an earlier draft for the film.

In September it was announced that Elizabeth Banks will direct the project and will produce with her husband Max Handelman

The original 1970s television series followed three female detectives (Farrah Fawcett, Kate Jackson and Jaclyn Smith) working for a mysterious man named Charlie (whose voice was only heard). Back in 2000 Sony produced the first film version which starred Drew Barrymore, Cameron Diaz and Lucy Liu, which grossed $264 million worldwide. The 2003 sequel “Charlie’s Angels: Full Throttle” reeled in $259 million. McG helmed both films.

What do you think? Do we really need another Charlie's Angels reboot.

David Auburn To Pen "Charlie's Angels" Reboot

27 July 2016 11:16 AM, PDT | Dark Horizons | See recent Dark Horizons news »

Pulitzer Prize winning playwright David Auburn ("Proof") is in talks to write the screenplay for the reboot of the "Charlie's Angels" franchise at Sony Pictures.

A hit TV series in the 1970s, the premise followed three female detectives (Farrah Fawcett, Kate Jackson and Jaclyn Smith) who worked for a mysterious benefactor named Charlie (only heard as a voice) and his representative Bosley.

In 2000 the property was revived on the big screen with Drew Barrymore, Cameron Diaz and Lucy Liu starring as the girls whilst the likes of Bill Murray and Bernie Mac played Bosley.

McG helmed both films in the series and though the first went well, the second was a dud and so no further entries were produced. The franchise was again revived in 2011 as a TV series, but it lasted only four episodes.

Elizabeth Banks came on board to direct the project in September last year and will »

The Supporting Actress Smackdown Of 1977 is coming. You already met two of our panelists. And here are the other three (including me).

Meet The Panelists

Panelist: Sara Black McCulloch

Bio: Sara Black McCulloch is a Toronto-based researcher, translator and writer. She has written for i-d, cleo Journal, Adult, The Hairpin, Gawker, Bitch Magazine and The National Post. You can read more of her work here.

Question: What does 1977 mean to you?

1977 seemed to be steeped in so much disillusionment. I think that, like the years that signal the end of a decade but don't quite bookend it, it was...fraught. The year was packed with events that pointed to change and fueled uncertainty. It was the year the U.S. signed the nuclear-proliferation pact and the same year that the U.S. government voted against covering elective abortions through Medicaid. The Apple II computer hit the market and Jimmy Carter »

Kellan Lutz Up For "He-Man" Reboot?

25 June 2016 8:04 AM, PDT | Dark Horizons | See recent Dark Horizons news »

Though talk of the "He-Man and the Masters of the Universe" cinematic reboot has been going around for some time, there hasn't been much movement on the project in recent years beyond the attachment of McG ("Charlie's Angels," "Terminator Salvation") as director.

Now it seems one actor has used social media to indicate he's at least met over the film and could be in the running - "Twilight" series actor Kellan Lutz. Lutz just tweeted:

"Hey @HeManTheMovie and all Motu fans, Had an amazing meeting with @McGsWonderland and @ItsMaryViola talking Motu. Its In Great Hands!"

For those wondering Mary Viola is the president of McG's production company Wonderland Sound & Vision. A meeting is a long way from even negotiations though, and how many actors McG has met for the film is unclear.

So far there's been few rumors regarding who'll play the protector of Castle Grayskull or when the »

Jonathan Tucker ("Kingdom") and Crispin Glover ("Charlie's Angels") have joined the cast of the upcoming premium cable series adaptation of Neil Gaiman's acclaimed contemporary fantasy novel "American Gods".

The story posits a war brewing between old and new gods: the traditional gods of mythological roots from around the world steadily losing believers to an upstart pantheon of gods reflecting society's modern love of money, technology, media, celebrity and drugs.

Ricky Whittle plays Shadow Moon, an ex-con who becomes bodyguard and traveling partner to Mr. Wednesday (Ian McShane), a conman who in reality is one of the older gods, on a cross-country mission to gather his forces in preparation to battle the new deities.

Tucker is the philosophical Low Key Lyesmith, Shadow's one confidante in prison who offers sage advice to ready him for the outside world.

Glover will play Mr. World, the seemingly omniscient leader at the center of the New Gods coalition, »

Airing on Starz in the Us, American Gods will be available to UK viewers via Amazon in 2017. Jeremy Davies is the latest to join the cast...

Lost and Justified's Jeremy Davies is the newest addition to the expanding American Gods cast. He'll be playing Jesus, according to Entertainment Weekly.

In the series' war between the old gods and the new, Jesus qualifies as the latter variety according to his official character description:

"Resurrected on Ostara’s feast day, Jesus has always been generous in sharing the Easter holiday with the ancient goddess. But the overly empathetic Son of God would be crushed to know that Ostara harbors some deeply buried resentment over the issue.”

Playing Ostara is longtime Bryan Fuller collaborator Kristin Chenoweth. There's plenty more casting news for the 2017 series on the next page.

Spielberg's Best Pictures and New DVDs

2 February 2016 12:30 PM, PST | FilmExperience | See recent FilmExperience news »

Time to check in to see which movies we all can check back in with or catch up with now that they've hit the home market. The big title, Oscar wise is Steven Spielberg's 10th Best Picture nominee as a director, the cold war drama Bridge of Spies with Tom Hanks and Mark Rylance both doing fine work as a lawyer and the spy he must bargain with for a prisoner of war trade. Only one of Spielberg's directorial efforts has ever won Best Picture (Schindler's List, 1993) but which is your favorite? I'd rank them like so...

Raiders of the Lost Ark (1981) Schindler's List (1993) Jaws (1975) E.T. The Extra Terrestrial (1982) Lincoln (2012) The Color Purple (1985) Bridge of Spies (2015) Saving Private Ryan (1998) Munich (2005) War Horse (2011)

With the disclaimer that everyone knows I'm not a Spielberg aficionado really (the top three are the only ones I'm completely wild about from this list »
