In the war between the Earth Federation and Zeon, a young and inexperienced crew find themselves on a new spaceship. Their best hope of making it through the conflict is the Gundam, a giant humanoid robot, and its gifted teenage pilot.
In the near future, heavy industrial robot vechiles, or Labors, have become widely used throughout the world for their versatility and power. Unfortunately, those same qualities have also made them popular for criminals. To deal with this new problem, the police have organized special patrol labor units to be a counter force. In Tokyo Japan, the Special Vehicle Units serve in this function with Unit 1 or SV1 having a fine reputation for their professionalism and skill. However, the focus of this series, SV2, has its own rep for being clumsy and causing a great deal of collateral damage in their albeit effective methods. In this series, the adventures of this unit are featured as they go about their jobs and keep the peace in their own eccentric way. Written by

Patlabor is an anime series that tells the stories of the Special Vehicles Unit 2, a police unit which equipped with labor(robot) to perform various duties. What set this series apart from others of its kind is this series focuses on the people not the robot. The Special Vehicles Unit 2 is made up of probably the most interesting mixd of people in the police force. The action sequences come quite few and far between (you won't find it in every episode), but it really delivers. For a TV series, the animation is one of the best looking and the most consistent I've ever seen.
