Fascinating

I saw this on the DVD for the 1984 version of "Metropolis". It's quick but very interesting. It starts off talking about how old silent movies are crumbling away or catching fire. Giorgio Moroder loves the old silent film "Metropolis". He spent years tracking down all the cut or lost footage of it for a complete version. Then he composed a rock score for it and released it in 1984. The film was VERY short (not the complete version at all) and some people were horrified that they were "updating" the film with rock and roll. Still, it worked and Moroder explains here why and how he did it. He doesn't explain why the film was cut down to 82 min but I'll ignore that. Just fascinating.
