Parker Lists Life Regrets

22 December 2005 | WENN | See recent WENN news »

Sex And The City star Sarah Jessica Parker insists she has wasted a lot of her life and regrets not getting a proper education. The four-time Golden Globe-winner claims there are many things she would change about her life if she could turn back the clock - not least cherishing friends and family who have died. She tells the British edition of Cosmopolitan magazine, "Oh Jeez, where do I begin? I'd change a lot. I think I wasted many years - I suffer from terrible procrastination. I wish I'd applied myself in school; I wish I'd gone to college; I wish I hadn't gotten so tanned all those years. I wish I'd spent more time with people who are no longer living. I wish I'd told them things I understand now were important for them to have heard. I wish we'd invited more people to our wedding (with Matthew Broderick). I wish I'd worn a different wedding dress. But it's all cool." »

New Line acquired the book last year. The book uses a comic question-and-answer format to teach women how to stop kidding themselves when men aren't interested. The story line involves a hard-line advice guy who falls for a woman who seeks him out because she can't figure out the men in her life. The writers adapted the book for New Line. »

Parker Injured in Heels

31 October 2005 | WENN | See recent WENN news »

Former Sex And The City star Sarah Jessica Parker is nursing torn tendons in her foot after running down the street in stilettos. The fashion icon, whose SATC character Carrie Bradshaw lived in sky-high Jimmy Choos and Manolo Blahniks footwear, thought nothing of sprinting down the sidewalk as she had countless times before in her infamous heels. She says, "I ran down the block a few weeks ago in these heels, just like I did for seven years, and woke up in the middle of the night in agony. And it turns out I had torn the tendons in my foot - just from running in heels. It was a little reminder that I am not 27. I'm 40 and your body simply cannot support you in the same way it used to. But I'll never stop wearing heels!" »

Cattrall Talks Sex

28 October 2005 | WENN | See recent WENN news »

Actress Kim Cattrall is set to unveil a new TV special on human sexuality, to coincide with the release of her book Sexually Intelligent. The former Sex And The City star, who penned the successful sex-help tome Satisfaction - The Art Of The Female Orgasm, traveled to various destinations around the world to speak with people about their intimate secrets for the show, which will carry the same name as the new book. She says, "It was so much fun. We took seven real people and we asked them all the same questions about sexuality and then we took four experts to comment on it. Then we traveled all over the world." And the British-born beauty, 49, admits she was particularly surprised when she spoke with people about their fantasies. Cattrall explains, "This was actually a more scary subject for people, because people don't like to admit that they fantasize, or what they fantasize about." The documentary is set to debut in the US next month. »

Davis Injured in Spanish Hotel

27 October 2005 | WENN | See recent WENN news »

Former Sex And The City star Kristin Davis is walking around in pain, after injuring herself in a fall at a Spanish hotel. Davis was recently woken at 4am by hotel staff who wanted to inform her that she had a fax waiting for her. But when she got up to retrieve it, she ended up having a painful accident. The brunette beauty says, "I was staying in an old mansion that's turned into a hotel with the hardwood floors. There was like a little napkin that they put down (for) when you step out of bed. (My) foot hit the napkin and the napkin slid and the hand hit the table with the phone and the phone slid and I was splat out on the floor and I tore my (medial collateral ligament). It's a sports thing. I had to go a sports doctor. He was like, 'Well, this is the first time I've ever heard this injury acquired in this way,' because it's like a basketball or tennis (injury). I should make up some very athletic story." But, in staying faithful to fashion, Davis is refusing to ditch her high-heeled shoes, adding, "I said to the doctor, 'I don't have any flat shoes! What am I gonna do?' I was conditioned, I was brainwashed for seven years (on Sex And The City) that I have to wear (heels), but it actually helps because I don't have any range of motion and that's when it hurts, when you move it a lot." »

Yogi Berra Settles 'Sex and the City' Spat

21 September 2005 | WENN | See recent WENN news »

Baseball legend Yogi Berra has reached a settlement with TV network TBS in his $10 million lawsuit over the use of his name in a Sex And The City ad campaign. While bosses at Tbs have not commented on the settlement, Berra's lawyer Louis Smoley says both parties have agreed to mediation and the payout was "substantial". Berra was outraged after learning his name was included in a multiple-choice quiz asking consumers the definition of "Yogasm" in print ads on buses and subways plugging Sex And The City. The three possible answers were (a) a type of yo-yo; (b) sex with Yogi Berra; or (c) what (Kim Cattrall's character) Samantha has with a guy from yoga class. In the suit filed in New York Supreme Court, the retired sports star said he had been tainted by the ad, pointing out he is a married grandfather and a "deeply religious man who has maintained and continues to maintain a moral lifestyle". »

The Vine: 'Sopranos' may extend final run

11 August 2005 | The Hollywood Reporter | See recent The Hollywood Reporter news »

The upcoming season of The Sopranos might well be a whopper, at least in terms of the number of episodes. Sources said series creator/executive producer David Chase is close to finalizing a pact with HBO to produce as many as 10 additional episodes for the upcoming sixth season, set to bow in March. Sources said the tentative game plan is for HBO to stretch out the mob drama's swan-song season over many months, much as it did with the final batch of Sex and the City episodes by running a batch of 12 from June-September 2003 and the final eight in January-February 2004. It's understood that the Sopranos cast and crew went into the sixth season, which recently began production on the East Coast, expecting to film at least 10 but no more than 13 episodes for Season 6. Details were sketchy late Tuesday, but sources said that Chase was close to signing on to produce at least seven more installments of the Emmy-winning series. Of course, when it comes to long-term planning for Sopranos, the other X factor is the wishes of star James Gandolfini. It was unclear late Tuesday whether the extended-season plan would trigger new contract negotiations for Gandolfini, who set a new salary benchmark for actors toiling in the cable realm with his last contract renegotiation (HR 3/20/03). Reps for HBO and Chase declined comment on the matter Wednesday. »

Nets reclaim water cooler title

20 July 2005 | The Hollywood Reporter | See recent The Hollywood Reporter news »

Broadcast TV has got its buzz back. That was the optimistic assessment of the state of play in primetime offered to reporters Tuesday morning by CBS Entertainment president Nina Tassler during the opening executive session of the eye network's portion of the Television Critics Assn. summer press tour in Beverly Hills. Traditional network programming had been overshadowed in the pop culture landscape in recent years by such cable hotshots as HBO's The Sopranos and Sex and the City and FX's The Shield. But that is no longer after a season that saw CBS solidify its position as the nation's most-watched network and ABC's fortunes revived on the strength of overnight successes Desperate Housewives and Lost. "I think network television turned the corner this year," Tassler told reporters during her first solo TCA Q&A session since being promoted to entertainment chief in September. "We've reclaimed control of the water cooler from cable with shows like 'CSI, ' 'Survivor, ' 'Lost, ' 'Desperate Housewives' and 'American Idol.' These are the shows that people are talking about at the water cooler, in the cul-de-sacs, at the coffee shops and in the chat rooms." »

'Scrubs' finally called out of waiting room

14 July 2005 | The Hollywood Reporter | See recent The Hollywood Reporter news »

It took three years, but Emmy voters finally showed some love to NBC's quirky medical comedy Scrubs this year, giving it a seat in the elite comedy series nominees circle and a lead comedy actor nom for star Zach Braff. Scrubs patiently waited out perennial Emmy favorites Frasier, Friends and Sex and the City, which bowed out last season. With another Emmy darling, HBO's Curb Your Enthusiasm, not eligible this year, Scrubs finally got the recognition critics have bestowed on it for years. Scrubs creator/executive producer Bill Lawrence said he's "bummed out" by statements that with so many heavyweights gone, 2005 is a weak year for comedy. "What bothers me is that I consider the shows nominated this year as good a quality as previous years," he said. »

The sultry 48-year-old, who recently starred in Whose Life Is It Anyway? on London's West End, will be further encouraging women to "release their inner sexpot" in Sexual Intelligence, but her new sex bible will be more classically inspired - boasting erotic artwork instead of racy photographs.
