Twitter-Wood: Barack Obama’s Fly Swat, Going Green And Robert Pattinson’s Middle Name

18 June 2009 3:30 PM, PDT | From MTV Movies Blog | See recent MTV Movies Blog news

You’ve probably noticed a large number of Twitter users over the last few days putting their profile pictures through green filters in support of protesters in Iran. Jonah Hill, Christopher Mintz-Plasse, Neil Gaiman, Rainn Wilson, and a handful of others on the Twitter-Wood feed are among those who have been participating in the week’s Iran tweetings I mentioned yesterday, with Alyssa Milano still dedicating her tweets to new news out of Tehran.

Iran isn’t the only news permeating our follow list’s discussion topics, though. PETA lashed out at President Barack Obama for swatting a fly during a CNBC interview this week, and both Hill and Clive Barker tweeted reactions today. You’ll find both of them, “Twilight” actor Peter Facinelli, and pictures from Emmy Rossum and Ice-t in today’s Twitter-Wood report for June 18, 2009.

Twitter-Wood: Iran, Gwyneth Paltrow On Set For ‘Iron Man 2′ And Jonah Hill On ‘Superbad 2′

17 June 2009 6:33 PM, PDT | From MTV Movies Blog | See recent MTV Movies Blog news

Protests, marches, and link-passing have taken over Twitter following last week’s contested election results in Iran, and the Twitter-Wood feed has been no exception. Alyssa Milano has been particularly persistent with her #iranelection-tagged tweets, and directors Errol Morris, James Gunn, and Jon Favreau all logged on to comment on the events in Tehran.

Meanwhile, a few tweets squeaked through with details from the “Iron Man 2” and “Casino Jack” sets, as well as from Wil Wheaton’s guest appearance on the TNT series “Leverage.” Also, Jonah Hill joins Kat Dennings and Nick Jasenovec in doubting the legitimacy of the controversial Michael Cera Twitter account that I’ve mentioned before. Red Sonja remake 'will start filming next year'

16 June 2009 11:59 AM, PDT | From The Geek Files | See recent The Geek Files news

Last year a new movie adaptation of Red Sonja was announced, with plans to film it in 2008 and release it sometime this year, as the date on promotional posters indicated.

Sin City director Robert Rodriguez was to produce the project, which will star his fiancee Rose McGowan as the so-called 'she-devil with a sword'.

McGowan is best known from the TV series Charmed and the Rodriguez/Tarantino double feature Grindhouse.

After the remake was announced, all went quiet.

But now executive producer Joe Gatta has explained what is happening with this project and when we can expect to see it hit the big screen.

Gatta said the movie had been delayed and the intention is to film Red Sonja in 2010. The aim is to release it late that same year.

Gatta, who's also producing the Conan remake, told Empire magazine: "Because of certain issues and the economy, we had to change our plan a bit.

Thanks to the magic of Twitter, Jon Favreau once again offered an “Iron Man 2” filming location report today as another business week kicked into gear in Hollywood, and on the Twitter-Wood feed as well. In addition to getting to know some film preferences from Nicole Richie and Meagan Good, Alyssa Milano chimed in with her favorite post-workout menu item, and Rainn Wilson showed off a pictures of his dog.

As usual, the feed today proved to be a smorgasbord of celeb show-and-tell with a few behind-the-scenes tips, and a lot of information you never would have picked up elsewhere, such as how Frankie Muniz feels about the city of Newark and which part of Mandy Moore’s body hurt after a busy morning. Alyssa Milano Finds A Girlfriend's Boyfriend

2 June 2009 1:51 PM, PDT | From cinemablend.com | See recent Cinema Blend news

She had a long run as Phoebe Halliwell on TV's Charmed, but Alyssa Milano has been absent from major roles on the big screen for a long long while. And as I guess you have to do as a female actress once you're older than 30, Milano is taking her stardom into her own hands. She'll produce and star in the indie romantic comedy My Girlfriend's Boyfriend, playing a woman who must decide between two ideal men. Yeah, the concept is nothing original, but after all those years of casting spells on TV, maybe Milano will do something new with it. THR writes that Michael Landes will play an ad exec and Christopher Gorham a struggling novelist, both of them wooing Milano's character. Beau Bridges and Carol Kane also round out the cast.
