London, Nov 17: Oprah Winfrey's best friend Gayle King is leaving her network to join revamped Early Show on CBS.

The 56-year-old journalist, who has presented The Gayle King Show on the Own network since January, will be co-hosting the Early Show.

King will continue to work with Own from time to time, but will relinquish duties on her weekday programme.

Own presidents Sheri Salata and Erik Logan released a joint statement today wishing King all the best.

Mornings on CBS are going look very different starting in January.

The network announced today that Charlie Rose and Gayle King will join current Early Show co-host Erica Hill for a yet-unnamed morning program that will debut Jan. 9 and air in the timeslot currently occupied by The Early Show.

Rose, best known for his self-titled PBS program, will lead the broadcast at 7 a.m. and continue his duties at PBS, according to reports. King, meanwhile, will depart Own, home to her program The Gayle King Show, in order to helm the 8 a.m. broadcast.

New York, New York (X17online) - Gayle King and Charlie Rose are joining the CBS News team, according to the New York Times. CBS has recruited the two personalities to its morning news program in an effort to keep up in the competitive morning news market, which includes NBC’s Today and ABC’s Good Morning America. Rose will co-anchor the show during its 7 a.m. time slot with Erica Hill, while King will co-anchor its 8 a.m. time slot with Jeff Glor. Though Rose will continue to host Charlie Rose on PBS, King will step down from The Gayle King Show on Own for the new gig. »
