So bad, it makes "National Lampoon Goes to the Movies" look good!
9 January 2005 | by (UK) – See all my reviews

"Men in White" is an obvious parody of "Men in Black" but it's so lame it makes the latter look like the greatest comedy of all time. Honestly, I stumbled across this film last night thinking it was some really low-budget independent cult TV show or something (who knows!) and wondered what Thomas F. Wilson (Back to the Future) and Barry Bostwick (Spin City) were doing there. Then I started wondering why the blue Power Ranger was in it and that's when I realized it wasn't a TV show, it was a lame National Lampoon movie with expired one-hit-wonder actors (if that!), a horrible director, etc.

This is possibly the worst film I have ever seen, and I sat through many a MST3K episode. The acting is sub-par to begin with, the "special" effects are so incredibly awful they are worse than most extreme-low-budget TV series. Green screens were used heavily (and obviously) here, which isn't surprising since the co-director was a green screen unit controller on ADDAMS FAMILY REUNION - which was awful enough itself! Apparently he has a love affair with green screen and considers it superior to SF/X - it isn't.

Some scenes are totally incomprehensible. Such as when a group of Girl Scouts appear out of nowhere to fight off a bunch of bad guys and rescue the heroes.

It's almost purposely awful. First of all, GIRL SCOUTS?!?! Why not just sentence your film to an immediate and painless death?! Second of all, the wise directors decided to playback the scene in super-fast-super-cool motion - i.e., the girl scouts are running around the screen kicking bad guys' butts at a million miles an hour, against a background soundtrack that brings to mind the splendidness of a POWER RANGERS episode.

I could go on, but alas, I won't. Needless to say, this is one of the all-time worst films ever made, and a new low for National Lampoon. It's hard to imagine their stamp of approval actually used to mean something 20 + years ago when they were responsible for funny stuff.
