Storyline

Vancouver City Coroner Dominic Da Vinci is an ex-police officer who brings his police mentality into his current job. Da Vinci is opinionated which has caused him to make many friends but also many enemies along the way of his professional career path. Although he has the admiration of most that work with him, especially a very loyal secretary, Helen, he also often butts heads with even his most ardent of supporters in the Coroner's Office and the Homicide Department of the Vancouver Police Force. These include his bosses, the homicide detectives and the pathologists, one of whom is his ex-wife Patricia. Da Vinci, the staff at the Coroner's Office and the Homicide Department work together to try and undercover some of the mysteries surrounding the deaths that take place in Vancouver. Da Vinci tries to balance his professional life with his personal life, which includes taking care of his teen-aged daughter with whom he has joint custody with Patricia. a good show
12 January 2001 | by (west bloomfield, michigan) – See all my reviews

i am becoming a fan of canadian tv. davinci's inquest is a good example of good tv. unlike american tv, which is more plot driven, canadian tv is more character driven. this show, shot in vancouver, is a good crime show. no violence but definate tension. and the good guys don't always win - more like real life. the great thing about this show is that out of the 3 stories in the episode i saw, only 1 was resolved. we see his frustration at not bieng able to resolve his workload and the toll it takes on his personal/emotional bieng. hopefully in future episodes we will see the resolution or at least see davinci working towards resolution as he takes on more work. coroners and police don't just work on one case. they work on several cases at once with new ones adding on.

anyone who is able to catch canadian tv should catch this show. it makes american tv fare pale in comparison
