Not only do they take a 2 minute chase and drag it out for ten minutes with over-the-top commentary ("he's out of control! Oh my, he almost hit those pedestrians" and they're not even close), but the worst thing is, is the annoying "helicopter" voice, which is just a reinactment. The guy is amazingly, the same voice in all the car chases and I live in LA where most of these happen and have even seen a lot of the original ones on Fox, and this guy wasn't "calling the chase." Most of the time the guy in the helicopter is discussing the chase with the newscasters. This guy calls the chase and overacts to everything:
The car will be passing another slower car on the highway "he almost rammed into that guy!"
Cops will accidently hit the car "the cops make a dangerous move!"
Cop take the guy down in a regular procedure, "he got more than he bargained for when he went up against the police!"
I can't stand this show and the way they add sound effects to the chases. If the helicopter is video taping the chase, how can they possibly hear horns and screeches and cars crashing from up in the air?
The worst thing is the host, a former cop who is just awful (more egotistical than John Walsh). He acts like every word he's saying is really profound and he acts like every scene is much more than it really is.
I actually like "Cops." This show is just awful.
