Dissatisfied with the project, director Henri Decoin quit after the a few weeks. Richard Pottier took over and directed the remaining scenes. Decoin subsequently asked for his name to be removed from the credits and any publicity posters, which give this film the unique distinction of being the only French film with no director name in the credits.
