The film was dubbed into Telugu as "Manmadha Leela" . Though the film was criticised for its bold content when it released, it has received cult status with passing years and is considered a trendsetter. This film was dubbed in Hindi in 1977 as "Meethi Meethi Baatein".
The film was Kamal Hassans debut as a Hero in Hindi films. Since the film was dubbed in Hindi and not an original, Ek Dujhe ke Liye is considered Kamal Hassans Hindi debut. Kamal Haasan and Jaya Pradha did not dub for the dubbed Hindi version. Dubbing artiste were used.
The film was dubbed in Telugu language and was a bigger hit in Telugu than the original version. This film ran for more than 200 days in 8 theaters at Andhra Pradesh. In Tamilnadu the film ran for 92 days at the Midland theater in Chennai and 77 days at the Central theater in Coimbatore.
