Trivia

Even though this is the second Tenchi Muyo movie it is not considered canon to the OVAs, Tenchi Universe, Tenchi in Tokyo, or the other two Tenchi films by most of the fans. Naoko Hasegawa, one of the writers of the 1st OVA, is the only person involved with the making of Tenchi to consider this film canon. She consider it canon to the 1st OVA and the Mihoshi Speical. Not as good as the other two movies...
7 September 2000 | by (Philly, PA) – See all my reviews

Tenchi Muyo! Manatsu No Eve had the opportunity to surpass Tenchi Muyo! in Love, but it failed miserably. The over-all plot was completely overlooked and there's a lot of things that remain un-answered. It was undeveloped and way too short. It needed more detail. I love the Tenchi Muyo! series and I like all the movies, including this one, but it could have been so much more.
