Storyline

One hot summer day, a young girl suddenly appears in front of Tenchi claming the he's her papa! Everyone wonders who the mother could be, and this greatly upsets Ryoko, and she wants the new rival to leave. Lurking in the background, Yuzuha, the Demon of the World of Darkness, is about to get her revenge! So it begins, Tenchi must fight for his friends and Mayuka, daughter or not!

Even though this is the second Tenchi Muyo movie it is not considered canon to the OVAs, Tenchi Universe, Tenchi in Tokyo, or the other two Tenchi films by most of the fans. Naoko Hasegawa, one of the writers of the 1st OVA, is the only person involved with the making of Tenchi to consider this film canon. She consider it canon to the 1st OVA and the Mihoshi Speical.

Why does everyone like this movie so much?

I love Tenchi Muyo, don't get me wrong. It's one of my favorite Anime/Manga series, something I enjoy. However, Manatsu no Eve was a very giant disappointment, especially in comparison to its predecessor, Tenchi Muyo: In Love. The only saving grace for this Anime were a couple of scenes and some tracks on the soundtrack. Mayuka has potential. They threw in Mihoshi and Kiyone for seemingly no reason, however, and they turned Tenchi into a complete jerk. The plot was rather shallow, and Yuzuha, the 'villian' was laughable. I don't know what to say... I'm very disappointed.
