A couple of things about this movie: 1)Drew Barrymore plays a great geek! and 2) when the credits start rolling, I couldn't resist giving my honey a big kiss! Never Been Kissed is cute, light, and fun.
This is a great movie about how life really is for teenagers. I can definitely relate to Josie in many ways. If you need a wake up call, this is the movie to see. Funny and touching at the same time.
I found Never Been Kissed to be quirky, cute, romantic, and a flashback of high school! I thought it was a great film and Drew did a fantastic job of making you relate to Josie and how she must have felt back in high school. I'll go see it again! :)
It's nice to see that sometimes movie stars can just taking a break and do something fun. Never Been Kissed was a quirky, hilarious love story that sometimes makes you cringe and sometimes makes you smile. I have always kind of put myself in the character's shoes, similar to reading. Some of the scenes that should have been hilarious, made me wince, which isn't great, but better than nothing. I want to see more of Micheal Vartan! Everytime he was in a scene, all the girls in the audience squealed and sunk way down in their seats. He's much better looking than most young guys that Hollywood has been producing. Drew Barrymore was as charming and fun as ever. Much preferable to the "ideal" teens we see in the new surge of dumb teen flicks. And David Arquette! Adorable, what else can be said. Likable characters really helped this movie. Congrats to Drew, on her first producing job!
This is a lightweight comedy all about the torture that is high school and how some of us never get over it. Actually, I don't think high school was ever as bad as its made to seem in the movies - I thought junior high was worse! The movie is enjoyable but forgettable, and passes by pleasantly. Its not to be taken too seriously, so don't even try to, because it doesn't bear close inspection. Drew Barrymore is cute as ever - how can you possibly dislike Drew? - but there are certainly times when her comic touch could stand to be a bit lighter, if you know what I mean. The awkwardness is just a little bit too awkward. Still, there aren't too many actresses who would have posed for her hilarious yearbook picture with the braces, or consented to appear in what must be the most hideous prom dress ever. At least she's a good sport! One problem: the romance with the teacher is more than a little bit creepy when in real life there are teachers being arrested for just that sort of activity.
i saw never been kissed just today.it was a very cute movie.it starts out good then for about 45 minutes it's up,and down.sometimes entertaining some times not in that 45 minutes.then the last 20 to 30 minutes of never been kissed is unstoppable. it's just great.it's a great date movie.you can relate to this movie so much.it's a bit better than the wedding singer.the prom scene is the best i've seen in a long time.drew barrymore is so hot,and very cute in this movie.this movie also has good music.all in all a very cute, and entertaining movie.i give this movie *** out of ****
Well Drew Barrymore hits pay dirt again! Following the disappointment of Home Fries, Drew hits a second straight winner with Never Been Kissed. Drew who recently charming in Ever After is delightful as Josie Geller the routine high school nerd turned return to high school standout. Drew is a daring reporter who awkwardly at first, then with her brother's help successfully infiltrates a local high school, becomes a student again and charms her way to gaining the acceptance she never had the first time around. It's a perfect feel good movie about the opportunity to do high school over again, a surprisingly good thing that most of us never get a chance to do. Drew however proves rewards await if you try to return to school to erase your past mistakes. The supporting cast is top notch with Michael Vartan as the quintessential cool teach, and and Jordan Ladd, Cheryl's cute daughter leading the obligatory group of snobs. Additionally young Helen Hunt prototype Leelee Sobieski soon to be Joan of Ark on tv plays leader of the eggheads. Anyway the film is super! Bravo Drew! It far exceeds the way off base review by some reviewer for ew magazine who keeps attacking every feel good movie around. This is a sure fire a+ movie , not the d he gave it. Ultra recommended! 10 out of 10!!!
"Never Been Kissed" is as funny or even more so than the most humorous comedy this year "Analyze This" and in addition, it has a charming blend, probably the best this year of combining drama and comedy which made the audience both laugh hilariously and cry teary eyed at the same time. There is a compelling, mature edge to this movie also, which make this movie a definite cut above most teenage school movies. This is a must see because of its harding hitting approach with a lighter twist in even the most dramatic scenes. Except for a weak renaming prom theme scene and a weaker climax than this movie deserved, it was perfect in its charm and finesse with romantic love and the riot experience known as school. Drew Barrymore is a hit. 4-1/2 out of 5 stars.
Although the premise of this film is nice (loser goes back to school and becomes cool), Drew's appearance, and her talents, do not help this flawed movie shine any brighter. The entire cast's relatively lame performances bring this film down as well. It's a cute film, but unworthy of Drew's talents. All in all, see this only if there's nothing else playing in your area, or if you are a Drew fan.
Drew Barrymore is utterly enchanting in her role as Josie Gellar. The film follows Josie's present day life as a newspaper reporter to her NEW past as 17 year old high school senior, an undercover assignment issued to her by her boss. Josie is reborn and refurbished, but soon realizes that life in high school is still very much the same! With the aid of her brother (Arquette) who registers along with Josie, helps propel her popularity status from "Loser" to "Totally Rufus"! Josie makes the rounds with the cool cliques, snubs the brainiacs (which she used to be the first time around in high school) and falls for her English teacher. Barrymore gives a great emotional testimony for every person who thought that high school was hell. Molly Shannon shines as Josie's co-worker at the paper, Anita. I would recommend this film to everybody. Go see "Never Been Kissed" it's totally Rufus!
