It's springtime and love is in the air particularly for Mr. Magoo. Magoo is disappointed to learn his nephew, Waldo, had a fight with his girlfriend, Juliette. Magoo plans to have Waldo and Juliette reunited but instead of going to Juliette's apartment, he goes instead to a boxing ring where a boxing female kangaroo is sparring. Magoo mistakes the kangaroo for Juliette and invites her home to meet Waldo. Unfortunately, the kangaroo is trained to throw punches every time she hears a bell and Waldo is usually at the receiving end of the blows Written by Matt Yorston <georgey@atcon.com>

Surprisingly funny Mister Magoo short

This is a Mister Magoo short from UPA Studios. There will be spoilers ahead:

This is a rather funny Magoo short. The Magoo shorts are hit and miss, chiefly because they all revolve around Magoo's nearsightedness and thus the jokes are all in the same vein.

In this one, Waldo has had a fight with his girlfriend. Magoo tries to fix things up between them, but brings back boxing a kangaroo which has the habit of throwing punches whenever a bell rings. Waldo is generally the one receiving the blows (come to think of it, it's probably very good training for marriage, so Waldo should get used to it now).

Juliette (Waldo's girlfriend) comes over to make up with Waldo. Looking at her basic outline, one can see just how Magoo made the mistake. There are definite similarities between the two of them.

True love prevails and the happy couple are reunited, at least until the next fight and the kangaroo goes back to the ring.

This short is on a box set released by Shout! Factory. The set contains all of the Magoo theatrical shorts and a Magoo feature film. The set is excellent and this short is very good. Recommended.
